Breakdown of the Family Structure

I believe one significant problem in today’s society is the breakdown of the family structure. The breaking down of the family structure can lead to many things, such as: succumbing to negative peer pressure, and disconnection of the family. Being a high school student I have witnessed many fellow students succumb to negative peer pressure. Students who have such great potential to go anywhere in life they want, instead choose to drink, or waste their life on drugs. I have learned to stand up for what I believe in, and by doing so, I hope others will follow in my footsteps. Encouragement, I believe, is the best way to prevent fellow peers succumbing to the pressures of everyday life. By encouraging, or positively persuading, your peers to do the right thing, a better environment will be created in their everyday life to help teenagers strive to do the correct thing. Children often succumb to negative to peer pressure when the support of a loving family is absent. Parents should be a child’s number one supporter, encourager, confidant, disciplinarian, and their most important friend. Without parental guidance, many times children choose a negative path. Often times at school I see many students with their egos so low, they act as if they have no purpose. I believe that God made every single person special, so it is our job to let people know they are special. Too often the disconnection of the family leads to parents not making a point to tell their children how much they are loved. It’s time for the world to take a stand, for you to reach out and grab the person who needs you most. You never know what a friendly smile can mean to someone. Within the society of today many things can be, and should be prevented. Parents need to step up to the plate and take the responsibility for raising their children. A parent’s goals should be to provide a loving, nurturing home, as well as a place of protection. The time has come to put a stop to the breakdown of the family, and we all need to become one to make a difference.
