Breastfeeding provides the infant with all the necessary nutritional requirements for infants up to six months. They are to provide safety and nourishment for their children. This entails making seemingly important decisions to be sure their child is safe and well cared for. Choosing whether to breastfeed or formula feed is one of the first decisions a woman will make regarding her baby. This leads us to question why the U.S. has one of the lowest rates of breastfeeding among industrialized countries and one of the highest rates of infant mortality in the world.
