It allows you to take time out of your busy schedule that we all seem to have these days and be present in the moment with the baby as we cuddle, make eye contact and feed them. Having this time with the baby and the skin to skin contact is benefits both baby and mother. There can be some challenges that come along with breastfeeding such as the baby might have allergies and not be able to have milk. This can be helped by special soy or lactose-free formulas. Another challenge that mothers might experience is the baby not latching on correctly, mother not producing enough milk, or finding the right positioning that is comfortable for mother and baby. There are many resources and support like doulas, lactation consults and counselors and support groups to help with these concerns that may come up. Some other challenges that mother may face are going back to work and the time and space to pump their milk throughout the day. Fathers and partners play an important role in breastfeeding too. They can be helpful and supportive during this time by encouraging and appreciating the hard work it takes to breastfeed. It is important to try to be helpful with the baby by changing, preparing for feedings, and taking care of the other children. Our culture is becoming more supportive and encouraging of mothers making the choice to breastfeeding. While there is still some controversy over mothers breastfeeding in public there are laws put in play to protect them. The most important
