Breitbart Essay
Indirect Action 4: Military. America’s military is by nature a conservative organization and polls historically place it in the conservative camp. However, over time Russia has conveyed to the conservatives’ information that the Federal government is bad, and that the US government is their enemy. Their deception and disinformation has grown in the fertile fields of the conservatives, and many are members of the US military. Take for example the Oath Keepers, former military members and gun owners who advocate that citizens be ready and prepared to conduct armed opposition to a future federal government seizure of firearms in violation of the Second Amendment. In fact, the Oath Keepers actively recruit members from within the US armed forces …show more content…
In the case of Julian Assange, on RT, and spread by MRCTV, continue to propagate the US backing of ISIS. In Edward Snowden’s case, the Pentagon report found Snowden leaks had 'staggering' intelligence impact. Yet Russia’s, US proxies continue to support Snowden across social media. Even more disturbing is how the popular conservative website Breitbart mirrors Kremlin talking points. Some claim that Breitbart is a tool of Russian propaganda. Nina Byzantina, the Kremlin propagandist, even posted a series of fake Hillary ads with millennials, some in US military uniforms, satirically stating their readiness to go to war with Russia. These and many more like them are designed to influence and undermine US military members. Many service members fall prey to these sites and repost stories and articles on social media further advancing the Russian sponsored propaganda articles. It is very likely Russia is through social media, grooming the next generation of Wikileaks and Snowdens. The US military cannot ignore the threat this social media propaganda poses to our forces, especially in the light of an insider threat. Lastly, it can erode our military members’ sense of mission and purpose,

The use propaganda is used by the politically powerful in America to expand U.S. worldwide influence. Brewer defines propaganda as the deliberate manipulation of facts, ideas, and lies (Brewer 4). It analyzes propaganda to rally public support by showing America that they can fight for their freedom, democracy, and economic opportunity. American government leaders have gone as far to say that we should fight to protect other country’s value systems. However, this definition is useful because it focuses upon the political cause or point of view. In other words, the very meaning of the term implies the dissemination of propaganda as a political strategy. The term is associated with a manipulative approach, but propaganda historically was a neutral descriptive term.…

This beautiful game is the international sport of football, not to confuse it with the American sport involving the use of the hands. The English Premier League is the root of such excitement as it can easily be named the most watched and loved men’s football league in the world. But in the midst of the great amount of football that is continuously followed, there is a single broadcasting channel that brings it all to the people in the most exhilarating manner, Sky Sports. Sky Sports brings to the world, an endless coverage on the “beautiful game”, making the next game more anticipated than the last. In the early 1900s, there was a time in which the ways of the people were changing in America. In this era, there was a group of people that successfully changed America and brought the problems to the people. These people were known as the Progressives. Nevertheless, the progressives would not have changed nearly as much without the help of the muckrakers. They were a group of journalists that exposed problems. My paper is about three main things like urban poor living conditions, child labor, and the conditions of food. I feel that these were horrible problems and were addressed the way they were supposed to be. The way Muckrakers in the 1900’s and journalists today showed these problems were similar.…

Among the countless repercussions from September 11 is a new rationale for doling out security assistance: the war on terrorism. Not since anticommunism was used to excuse the arming and training of repressive governments during the cold war has there been such a broad, fail-safe rationale to provide military aid and arms to disreputable foreign militaries. Already the largest weapons supplier in the world, the U.S. government is now providing arms and military training to an even wider group of states in the name of “homeland security.”…

Cars are a fantastic invention. They make our lives more carefree by getting us from place to place quickly while abolishing the need for legs altogether. Instead of walking that 3 blocks to McDonalds, why not drive there? You get there faster and you can eat sooner. Driving has a lot of benefits. But driving also takes a lot of fuel, and everyone knows that fuel for cars isn’t the cheapest of resources.…

Obesity is a major epidemic in America. American’s are known for their obsession with food. At church last Sunday, the pastor was preaching on the topic of “fasting”. Fasting would be defined as the abstinence from eating certain or all foods in an effort to rely solely on God for inner strength. The pastor talked about how we as Americans are constantly looking for our next meal. We are always anticipating when and what we are going to eat. We even schedule our entire days around mealtime. Americans are essentially obsessed with food. In an effort to change this aspect of our culture, I have devised a three-part plan.…

Jonathan Swift’s “A Modest Proposal” was originally printed in the form of a pamphlet. In 1729, the year Swift had publicized this story, a pamphlet was a written work that stepped up against political, religious, social, or any other issue of public interest. He had written it to call for change against the abuse inflicted on Irish Catholics by the English Protestants. Swift had noticed that England was exploiting and oppressing his native country, Ireland. He aimed to stir up a revolution by suggesting that the Irish prevent their young children of being a burden to their parents or country by being eaten or sold for consumption.…

“Scouts of Honor” was a video that shocked me to know that the largest youth movement in the country, in which values are treating everyone equally and standing up for what you believe in, would ban gays to be a part of their organization. One in five boys in American are a boy scout. In Petalima, California, troop # 174, a twelve-year-old boy by the name of Steven Cozza started an anti-gay stand by the name of “Scouting for all”. They held petitions and set up stands at local grocery stored. They also went to San Francisco to the gay freedom day to take a stand. Steven chose to do this because of the expulsion of gays from the scouts. The New York City Police Department even opted to help in their efforts when they heard about what Cozza was doing. Cozza spoke about the increased suicide rates of teen who are searching for acceptance and trying to figure out why society is so against the homosexual community. It was justified that a gay man as a leader of a boy-scout troop would in turn be a child molester. Even the Boy Scout Association of America stated that studies show gays are less likely to be child molesters that heterosexuals. In the case against Tim Curry, the Supreme Court ruled that the Boy Scouts of American was a private institution and they could ban gays from their organization if they so desired. The boy-scout handbook teaches you to love everyone, not just certain people. Steven showed this contradiction to Americans at his rallies. Scott Cozza, Steven’s father, was forced to resign at Assistant Scout Master of Steven’s troop because f his involvement in the “Scouting for All” campaign. The banning of homosexuals from the boy scouts defeats the puproses and teachings of the boy scouts morality as a whole. In 1999, James Dale won a court case against the Boy Scouts of America stating that they were a public association and that they couldn’t discriminate on gay members. In 2000, the Supreme Court overruled their decision and stood by…

They are about 30000 students in VT and a majority student live off campus (about 2/3). As a freshman at Virginia Tech you are obligated to live on campus. It is actually understandable; you may actually prefer staying on campus but it is not going to be the case for many students. They maybe don’t consider freshmen mature enough to live off campus. A lot off students never lived completely alone before. On campus you still have some people who take care of you, for example RAs. Life on-campus is probably a transition to off-campus life. As I asked around in my hall a lot of students were convinced that they will live off campus, (out of the ten people I asked, 9 are already looking for off campus housing).…
