Brenda Weaver Case Study
Chamber of Commerce officials confirmed the Citizen of the Year portrait of Judge Brenda Weaver was found outside near their office, after it was reported stolen on July 18. Weaver was recognized as the county’s citizen of the year in 2015 and honored with a painted portrait that hung in the chamber of commercer lobby with other paintings of recent winners. At its inception, the program used bronze busts to honor the recipients. A chamber official said the painting was destroyed after being left outside for several days. It was vandalized as well. Chamber of Commerce Board Chairman Amberle Godfrey confirmed it was recovered but they were still going to replace it because of the damage. No arrests or information on who stole the painting

Statues are erected to reflect and / or represent an event or character that it depicts. The St. Catherines City Hall statue, erected in 1886, represents a militia member from the Winnipeg 90th division named Private Alexander Watson.
