The Great warming by Brian Fagan is a testament that climate change has been happening since recorded history. The Great warming focuses on climate change during the “Medieval warm period” and how the effects of the warm period affected society for better or for worse.This collection of Fagan’s findings was chosen because it shows how different societies adapted or failed to adapt to the changing environment around the world. The great warming focuses on different societies around the world not just focusing on the western world which gives different perspective on the lives of most people in the world at that time.
The great warming focuses on different parts of the world and how they adapted. Europeans experienced a warm period that led to great agricultural success. The success of agriculture in Europe led to a rise in population, which in turn affected the environment because people needed places to stay and began turning to the forest for space causing most of the forests in Europe to be destroyed. The caravans of Africa did not see major effects of major global warming and significant droughts. Throughout the Sahara and the rest of Africa caravans did not notice the rising climate because of their beasts of burden, the camel and the people who rode camels made sure their societies could adapt to such inhospitable weather …show more content…
The Great warming focuses on many people throughout the world during this time period. The ocean wind riders of the indian ocean, or the acorn harvesting Native americans of North America, and the people of Europe who thrived during the environmental warm period. Fagan makes sure that all aspects and all people of the world are recognized and their circumstance revealed during the time of environmental
