Waiting for her to go in and to never be seen again. “Yes, keep walking that way little girl.” He whispered under his breath. Wishing that she would just walk in there already. But before she even take another step, Mercedes came out of nowhere and stopped Ofelia from pursuing her “adventure.” Letting out a long breath, the captain's smile faded away and was disappointed.

On that night, two farmers were found walking around his camp by his men. His men thought of them as anti-fascists and brought them to the captain. On that very night, his sociopathic and cruel nature was revealed when he brutally and mercilessly murders the two farmers with a glass bottle to the face and bullet to the head. When he searched the farmers bags, he realized that they were actually hunting rabbits when he found two bucks (That is what you call a male rabbit.) stuffed down in there.

The captain then turned to to his lieutenant and held the bucks in front of his face and said, “ Next time, actually check their bags before I kill them. Eh.” And walked back towards the

When she approached, he turned around and shoved them into her. She let out a gasp. “For dinner tomorrow night.” He said with an evil grin upon his face. Mercedes nodded and walked to the kitchen. As she left, the captain just watched and when she was out of sight, he put his hands behind his back, looked around for a bit and then went straight to his office.

When the next day came around, he told his Carmen, his wife, about the dinner party he was having. He told her that he wanted her and her daughter there and that Ofelia be well behaved. Carmen, still being pregnant, wheeled off in her wheelchair to tell Ofelia. Carmen seemed as though she was getting sick from the baby and even though she was married to the captain, he could not have cared less about her. Western and nonwestern heroes come from different regions of the world; therefore, have different cultural backgrounds. More specifically, western heroes come from the Greco-Roman or Judeo-Christian traditions. Nonwestern heroes come from other parts of the world that would not associate with these traditions. While these heroes might seem to have little in common when it comes to origin, “The Hero’s Journey” by Joseph Campbell demonstrates that all heroes have “similar patterns” (Campbell). However by examining the non-western hero, Mulan, in “The Ballad of Mulan” demonstrates how this figure is different than the hero outlined in Joseph Campbell’s “The Hero’s Journey” in the following ways, Mulan does not have any kind of “supernatural aid”, “tests that lead to the final showdown”, or a “life-changing experience for her or many others” (Campbell).…

The departure stage is the first stage that starts the hero’s journey. The call to Adventure is the first part of the hero’s journey. (Campbell 41). The call to adventure is as it sounds the point where something happens that causes the hero to begin his or her quest, it’s the most pivotal moment that the hero has at the start of the journey. Wright has his call to adventure when he enrolls in the University of Wisconsin in the engineering program that they had. Wright ended up dropping out after a few semesters and at the time that he does, he moves to Chicago (Huxtable 41-42). He decided to make the move when he decided that the small town of Madison had nothing left to offer him. Upon making it to Chicago Wright wasted no time in finding a place to work. “He tried many places and kept getting rejected. Wright’s last stop was the firm of Joseph Lyman Silsbee” (Huxtable 46). Silsbee takes the place of mentor for Wright, it’s with him that Wright learns more on his talent and begins his career and legend. Wright leaves Silsbee and gets hired immediately by Adler and Sullivan as an assistant for Sullivan at this time Sullivan becomes the mentor teaching Wright more. Wright going through these parts of the hero’s quest puts him in the hero category. Even with the fact that it’s known he lied to lie his way into getting what he wanted.…

Many fairy tales are fantasy and are make believe. This story does exactly that. The story starts out with the narrator being scared ad not able to sleep. So she tells a story with made up characters that live in a fantasy world. The story tells of the family living in the world with no harm and absolute safety. For example "...a swimming pool which was fenced so that the little boy and his playmates would not fall in and drown" (Gordimer). As great as this seems the world without harm doesn 't exist no matter how what is done to try and prevent this from happening.…
