Brief Summary Of The Book 'Ghost' By Jason Reynolds
In the fictional novel “Ghost” by Jason Reynolds, all that Ghost (real name Castle Cranshaw) has ever done was basketball and running. But he never ran for track or cross country. He would run from his dark past. With his raw talent for running, he stumbles across a track where an Olympic medalist trainer notices his skill and convinces Ghost to join his team called the Defenders. As he runs with the Defenders, he gains a few friends and learns about good relationships. Although Ghost thrives at the track, he has multiple issues at school. Gradually, he grows mentally, and he realizes that facing his past is the only way to move on. In the end, he accepts his past and embraces his skill for running. He continues training on the track and he …show more content…
On page 1, in the book “Ghost”, it states “I probably hold the world record for knowing the most world records”. This evidence shows that Ghost likes and knows a lot about world records.

Ghost was being a principled person when he admitted and apologized for stealing the track shoes. On page 164, in the book “Ghost”, it states, “I'm really, really sorry for stealing the shoes. I just. I didn’t mean anything. I made a stupid mistake.” This evidence shows that Ghost did not make excuses for himself for stealing the shoes and Ghost apologized for his actions. It also shows that he understood that it was not honest to steal and that his punishment would be justified.

Ghost was being a caring person when he told everyone to stop making fun of Brandon even though Brandon bullied him and others. On page 112, in the book “Ghost”, it states, “I saw some of the other kids snickering at him as he passed, but I told them all to chill. I don’t know why because he totally deserved it, but I guess I felt kinda bad for the dude. I've been there.” This evidence shows that Ghost stood up for Brandon when he was getting teased, even though he completely deserved it. He had empathy and he cared for Brandon because he had been bullied
