According to our results we concluded that brine shrimps prefer the dark environments as oppose to the light environment, as we can see in table one above. Hypothesis Brine shrimps prefer certain conditions over others. Prediction I will find that darkness, hot temperatures, low acidity treatment, low basicity treatment, high glucose exposure and high egg white exposure has the highest number of brine shrimp and is therefore most preferred. Phototaxis As we see in table one, our results show that brine shrimps prefer the dark as appose to the light. The shrimps started out by being in the light at first but gradually all the shrimps moved to the dark side. In the wild brine shrimps prefer the light as they are found in the shallow part of the ocean rather than the deep dark side (Brine Shrimp, 2016). Our results do not make sense as we saw that our shrimp went to the dark side rather than the light side, as in the wild they are usually sound in the light side. …show more content…
In lab we saw that brine shrimps prefer dark side rather than the light side, which is not true because they prefer light environments. We also noticed that the brine shrimps liked the cold temperature rather than hot temperatures, which is false they like warm temperatures. Brine shrimps neutral pH. Lastly brine shrimp prefer egg whites rather than glucose, which correlates with how the shrimps live in the wild. Weakness There were many problems that we faced during the lab. One problem that occurred was that my partner did not let the brine shrimps swim around for five minutes. Second problem that occurred was that my partner dropped most of the shrimps in to tab water resulting in many deaths of the shrimp. This cause our data to be not accurate.
