It borders the countries of Morocco, Mauritania, Mali, Niger, Libya, Tunisia, and the disputed land of Western Sahara. Algeria has a prominent coastline, and its capital city of Algiers is located on a bay of the Mediterranean Sea. The territorial size of the country is 2,381,740 square kilometers (919,594 square miles) which is more than three times the size of Texas (U.S. Department of State). House of Morgan Paper

It was an honor and privilege to have been able to read and enjoy the book, The House of Morgan, by Ron Chernow, as he depicted thoroughly the history of the American banking system as well as the financial system in the United States. As long and challenging as the read was, I really liked how the author, Chernow, stated many facts throughout the history of the U.S. starting in 1835 in the opening chapter with George Peabody and how he played a big part in shaping the economy and banking system of the U.S. I was unaware of his influence prior to reading the book as he started up his banking firm George Peabody & Co. in London. I also went on to learn about how Junius Spencer Morgan (J.S. Morgan), who was the father of John Pierpont Morgan (J. P. Morgan), and Peabody, formed a partnership that would last 10 years with the establishment of Peabody Morgan & Co. It was also good to read an objective historical viewpoint, especially with what is happening in Wall Street over these past few years and the uncertainty that comes with it; the huge buyouts, the big bankruptcies, the whirling stock market, and the fragile dollar that has everyone worried. With all the facts, stories and historical perspectives that were included in the book and the fact that I learned so much, I definitely am glad to have read it, especially since I do have a background in finance. A novel like this for me to read was long overdue.…

Since my current employer does not have a Union Agreement I decided to write about the Contract Extension Agreement between Akron City School District (Akron, New York 14001) and The Akron Faculty Association (July 1,2011-June 30,2014). The new agreement is the same as the 2007-2011agreement except for a few changes with the health care and compensation sections. The contract doesn’t enclose the specific amount of wages for positions but Article 8 of the agreement talks about compensation. Section 8.1 states that new hire teachers may be hired above and beyond Step I of the Bachelors or Master’s Degree schedules at the Superintendents discretion. Section 8.2 discusses salary schedule for teachers which are covered by this Agreement and the rules governing placement of teachers on such schedule, along with rules for method of salary payment for the current year, are set forth in the salary schedule contained herein. Section 8.4 states that Unit members who are 10 months employees, may elect to receive 21 or 22 or 26 or 27 salary payments for the September through June employment period. These salary payments shall commence with the first or second Friday of the school year. For those unit members who elect 26 or 27 salary payments option, the additional 5 checks shall be drawn and received with the last paycheck in June. Section 8 goes on to discuss compensation for extracurricular services, the band director, guidance counselors, audio-visual coordinator, teacher’s assistants and so forth. Section 8.8 covers Severance of Retirement Benefits. Any teacher meeting retirement eligibility in accordance with this Article or any teacher with permanent voluntary severance of duty with at least 20 years of service to the District shall receive: 8.8.1; A sum of $30.00 per day of accumulated sick leave credit to a maximum of 270 days ($8,100) beginning with the 2007school year. 8.8.2;…

Organizational change has many concepts from wide changes to small changes that can affect a company. Introducing a new person into the company, changing mission statement, restructuring, and even adding stock options are examples of organizational changes. According to Spector it is important to understand, analyze the dynamic of change, and requirements of effective change implementation. Successful changes requires management to explore many drivers of change. Strategic responsiveness occurs when external factors affects the company for example, government regulation, new competition, and economic changes. In response to these events an organizational change is necessary to create and maintain customer service and performance. Strategic renewal requires a change in plan to gain an competitive edge. To be effective management needs to be part of the change process. The leaders need to change its business practices and resources. A new business model is necessary to for the company to generate profit and survive. They could even start a new business model, which is called" Greenfield." (Spector 2010) Starting a new business from scratch is easier with new employees instead of the "challenge of nurturing a new business model within an existing model." (Spector 2010) To accomplish the goals of the new business model the change agent need to retrain employees in new skills and competencies.…

    Fdr Vs Hoover Essay

Hoover proved to be less proactive than Roosevelt in dealing with the effects of the Great Depression as he was in denial: “there was no crisis, he insisted. All that was needed … was to let the economy cure itself” (pg. 1106). Perhaps he was just wishing that the worse would pass, but regardless he realized that sitting idly would not change anything, and thus he had no choice but to take action. Hoover attempted to cheer up the public by convincing them that the worst had passed, but his optimism wasn’t sincere and the nation was able to see that. Unlike Roosevelt, he wasn’t a natural people-person and his attempts at connecting with the nation on a personal level resulted in him uttering discouraging phrases such as “No one has yet starved” (pg. 1108). The public was naturally not pleased with his inability to show empathy, and thus they mocked him by creating “Hoovervilles” and “Hoover blankets”. Throughout this whole fiasco, Hoover was more concerned with the state of the government rather than the state of the people, and thus he refused to offer “direct support to the poor” out of the fear that it would give rise to socialism (pg. 1108). He cleverly tried to mask these motives by trying to convince the public of the importance of…

Organizational change means many things. It can mean introducing a new enterprise resource planning system to coordinate and standardize internal processes, shutting down a factory, selling off a noncore business, or laying off employees. It could also mean entering a global market, integrating acquired companies, and outsourcing nonstrategic activities (Spector, 2010).…

In “Zorba the Greek”, Kazantzakis uses imagery to convey his ideas regarding the human condition. All of the quotes indicate that the human condition is ignorance, naivety, and the struggle to attain one’s own happiness. I will talk about each of these in order of how I listed them. Kazantzakis puts a fine line between ignorance between ignorance and naivety which is interesting considering they go hand in hand; ignorance leads unto naivety…

    The Yellow Wall Paper

The Yellow Wall-paper is a fictional short story written by Charlotte Gilman and I feel like it exaggerates the post-partum depression she has, at the time the post-partum was not recognized as it is now. She is also living in a time period where the husband is more superior to the wife and some details of her story show that. John and his wife, the narrator, move into an estate for the summer along with their new baby and John’s sister. John, a doctor, orders his wife to get plenty of rest in order to cure her “temporary nervous depression” (83). In their new home she is basically imprisoned in a room that has yellow wall-paper which ultimately drives her insane. More than anything else the narrator describes the yellow wall-paper and her interaction with it. This story is full of irony, symbolism, and madness.…

According to Dante, Hell is broken down into nine circles. Each circle would represent a punishment according to their sin and would be more evil as you draw near towards the last circle. If Dante were to travel in Hell again, he would most likely encounter Angelina Jolie. Although she is looked upon as a celebrity with a humanitarian heart, the sins that she have committed would not be acceptable in God’s eyes. Despite her humanitarian heart, she is likely to go to hell.…
