Bronchi Blooming Is Meant To Represent The Respiratory System

My piece is titled “Bronchi Blooming”, it is meant to represent the respiratory system. The function of the bronchi is to distribute oxygen throughout the lungs. I chose to illustrate a woman with her head tilted upwards, with flowers blossoming out of her mouth, and leaves flowing down her neck. A flower's use of photosynthesis served as my inspiration. In photosynthesis, the plant will absorb carbon dioxide and exhale oxygen. Then we will breathe this oxygen back into our lungs and release carbon dioxide as we breathe out. This system is interesting to me because of the organ structure that resembles a tree. The bronchi can function as roots or branches, the pharynx, larynx, and trachea act as the trunk, while, the lungs act as blossoming leaves of flowers. The principle of movement is shown for this as our eyes follow the line of vines up the neck to the mouth, symbolizing the exhale. They represent the repeating cycle of photosynthesis and cellular respiration. The incorporation of flowers is also due to the respiratory system's function of helping with smell. The aroma of flowers is fresh, clean, and soothing. Their clean scent symbolizes how the respiratory system filters air. The swirls surrounding the flowers show this. The element of value is displayed through the greyscale shadows and lights. Shading requires the use of many values and positive space to form the figure of a human woman. The element, of texture, is evident throughout the hair of the woman. When I drew the flowers, I wanted some of them to be short and some to be long so that there was a balance between the size and length of the body and the length of the flowers. The respiratory system seems to be one of the most important systems to me because we must breathe to live. I admire how the system is tied to
