The leaders set up a system that forces the brothers to work as a single unit. The work system works in a way where the Council of Vocations assigns each person a specific job. This keeps society running smoothly so nothing will remain undone. This also equals out the job opportunities, eliminating competition and qualifications. People obey the idea of existing as a single unit because they learn this method during their youth and strongly believe in it: “We are one in a all and all in one. There are no men but only the great WE, one, indivisible and forever” (19). The leaders use the saying to describe how no man can stand alone. The community works as a single unit, almost like parts of a machine where each man works a gear, completing the specific task assigned to it.…

“The only hope you have is to accept the fact that you’re already dead.” [The Band of Brothers] In 1942, the U.S. army assembled a volunteer parachute regiment to jump behind enemy lines. Embedded in this unit was a company of men who landed to fight at the forefront of the war in Europe. That company was Easy Company. The brave men parachuted behind enemy lines in the early hours of D-Day in support of the landings at Utah beach and much more. Doing so, the company sustained one of the highest casualty rates of WWII. Although there were a few minute inaccuracies within Band of Brothers, the show is well produced and accurately depicts the training of the paratroopers, the horrors of how the Jews were treated during the Holocaust, and the battles…

In the world of literature, there are many ways to indirectly convey or foreshadow events, settings, and situations. Nathaniel Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter uses a great deal of literary devices and techniques in order to effectively lead the reader towards his viewpoint and, finally, towards his purpose. The sin of adultery, which acts as the base and impetus for much of the plot in The Scarlet Letter, affects Hester Prynne, Arthur Dimmesdale, and Roger Chillingworth the most; however, each of the preceding is affected differently by the sin and each of their fates is decided accordingly. Every one of the aforementioned also gains a sort of wisdom, be it good or be it evil, from their suffering. Hawthorne uses symbolism, metaphors, and imagery to convey each character's intrinsic traits which are forced to surface as a result of the sin. The author uses internal and external conflict to represent each character's wisdom gained from their suffering.Hester's external release of pain is in great contrast with Dimmesdale's internal accumulation of pain. Dimmesdale's suffering is very much internal and continues to build slowly and strenuously. The air of regret from the sin of adultery is held in Dimmesdale like a balloon being sl…
