Structuring the Research Proposal
Executive Summary:
Ahmedabad BRTS and AMTS Project Overview
The city of Ahmedabad spread over 400 Sq. km of area, accommodates over five million people. The main agencies governing the area are the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA). There are a host of municipalities and Village Panchayats within the area of AUDA providing limited urban services. The population growth in the city has been moderate. There are about 1.4 million vehicles registered in the city. Of these over 60% are two wheelers. There are about seventy five thousand three wheelers providing intermediary passenger service and about two thousand eight-seat vehicles operating point-to-point services.
The Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service (AMTS) has been providing public transport service in the city for over five decades. In the eighties, AMTS had been catering to about 40% of the trips performed in the city (about six hundred and fifty thousand trips). Today, the service has shrunk significantly. About 350 buses cater to around two hundred and fifty thousand trips (i.e. 7- 8% of total trips in Ahmedabad). The proportion of Bicycle users in the city is also quite large (i.e about three hundred thousand). A quarter of the total trips made in the city are walk trips. As a result of the above parameters, congestion; pollution and high rates of accidents are becoming the order of the day.

To know the preference of people towards AMTS and BRTS.
To evaluate the service provided by transport operator.
To find out the shortage of buses.
To know the strength of the buses in AMTS and BRTS.
Literature Review:
Ahmedabad has a population of 5,570,585 as per 2011 census, which is likely to be 11 million by the year 2035. This would lead to agglomeration of surrounding settlements like Naroda and other smaller villages, which ultimately increases the area of the city, which may become 1,000 km2 in the year 2035. For the first 50 years since independence, Ahmedabad had very limited public transport options. During Modi Government, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and Gujarat State Government initiated a plan for integrated public transit system, in which Bus Rapid Transit System) is one of the components, to facilitate the major mobility need of the people. In future, this system will get integrated with MEGA by the addition of two lines running through east to west and north to south in the city. Upcoming Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT) would be easily accessible through this multimodal mix of Rapid Transport Systems.
Chennai BRTS and Bangalore BRTS have also followed this BRTS and are under implementation while Mumbai BRTS and Bhubaneswar BRTS are under planning.
Technical procedures was started in 2006. A part of the first corridor connecting Pirana to RTO Junction was opened to public on October 14, 2009 by Chief Minister of Gujarat, Narendra Modi. Second half of the first phase of the BRTS was inaugurated on December 25, 2009. It was stretched up to Kankaria Lake later to cater eastern part of the city.

We all are the students of management and we had pursued bachelor degree.
