Bruce Klunder impacted our society greatly, during the civil rights movement. in fact he dedicated his life to helping the needs of others, up until his death which happened when he was protesting with fellow friends, and jumped behind a bulldozer, which ran him over and killed him(splcenter.org). when bruce was an 18 year old in college at oregon state university he had heard about the protest going around about segregation laws. He helped stop segregation by finding Core. core was helping with the Freedom Rides, desegregating public facilities, and the Freedom Summer voter registration project and the historic 1963 March on Washington.Core initially embraced a pacifist nonviolent approach to fighting racial segregation.(history.com).
i feel like all these things had impacted someone in some way, even if it wasn't as big as other people. he still participated, he believed in equal rights, and he fought until death. that's what i think impacted me and others the fact that he cared so much about people, who aren't even related to him, the fact that he lost his life for this is amazing. and although he didn't make a whole speech, or have segregation to stop, he took place in a part, a part to get others on there side, to help others believe what was going on in that society, and that something needed to change, from something as little as jumping in front of a bulldozer, he helped, he impacted me, and i know he impacted others to.
