Bruce Lee was an Asian-American born in San Francisco and Prashad described his admiration for Bruce Lee in this chapter not just because he was a good artist but because Bruce Lee broke the barriers that were attached to his skin and for being a Chinese American in the world of Hollywood. Prashad stated that Bruce Lee was “the first martial arts masters to train non-Asians” (p. 127) including popular actors of his time. Polyculturalism was evident in Bruce Lee’s life because he knew as an Asian American what social attachments were associated with his skin and even in Hollywood he could not become a star despite his abilities. Bruce Lee was faced with racism in his time and he was not allowed to take a hero’s role in movies because he looked too Chinese. But all these stereotypes of his being did not hinder Bruce Lee from doing what he loved.…

We all know the answer and truth in ourselves, but just tend to forget. Like the story of a golden buddha in the movie, everybody was born with full of potential, but we hide it in a veil unconsciously while living everyday. I recognized the true happiness is always inside of me. Further, I sympathized with the idea; trusting in oneself is an essential of life. Accepting you as who you are including the parts you don’t like is important.…

Born between 6 and 8am on November 27 1940, both the hour and year of the dragon, his symbolic birth marks the start of a new age, the age where a new martial art style is created which supersedes any other form of martial arts that has ever existed, the age where the Asians will never be looked down upon again by the Westerns, the age of this powerful man called Bruce Lee.…

A call to be gentle, to be forgiving, to be generous with yourself. The next time you look into the mirror, try to let go of the story line that says you're too fat or too shallow, too ashy or too old, your eyes are too small or your nose too big; just look into the mirror and see your face. When the criticism drops away, what you will see then is just you, without judgment, and that is the first step toward transforming your experience of the world.”…

The main philosophy of his beliefs as both a martial artist and a filmmaker was created via the integration and shaping of different concepts of martial arts, his belief of Taoism and ancient Chinese paradigms and the integration of this concept into his films. Nishant Jasani TOK essay 1 "All of the other Ways of Knowing are controlled by language." The author of this statement is claiming that the language we use controls all of our other ways of knowing, which are perception, emotion, and reason. This author is declaring that without language, we would not know anything. Our particular choice of language leads to a particular perception, a specific emotion, a certain reason, while a different choice of language would lead to a different perception, a separate emotion, another reason. This statement is a fair representation of the relationship between language and the other ways of knowing in that language does control the other ways of knowing in some cases; however there are other cases in which it does not.…

The line that truly made sense to me was, “Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cups, we fail to enjoy the coffee.” For one, I find it funny that we all work hard to have good lives and risk our health for our jobs. Whereas, when we get sick because of exhausting ourselves doing this, we spend all our savings to try to keep ourselves alive – great irony and a hard truth. We push ourselves to the limit everyday, working hard to prove something to others or to ourselves. In doing so, we often forget to live in the moment and enjoy the ride. We get so caught up with planning for tomorrow and fail to understand that the present is as much as important as our future. The norm is to measure one’s success by his job description, land hectares, designer bags, even Facebook likes. It is very human, but it is temporary. There is always so much more than what we see. Always.…
