Bruce Tuckman's Team Analysis
Forming a team takes time, and members often go through recognizable stages as they change from being a collection of strangers to a united group with common goals (Mind Tools Ltd, 1996-2016). Bruce Tuckman's has five stages of development which include Forming, Storming, Norming, Performing and Adjourning. These are the steps and paths every group follows on their way to high performance. I, myself am part of a Zumba team at 24Hour Fitness.

Becoming part of this group was tough, nobody knew each other. This was just something the gym wanted to put together so it can encourage other members of the gym to attend the Zumba classes. It all started out when the manager at 24hour fitness noticed that there were only a few individuals

In this stage, the group start to resolve their differences and learn to respect each other as a whole. The individuals started to realize their strengths and respect for each other. Everyone started to know one another better and socialize together. Constructive feedback was provided. The group felt comfortable asking each other for feedback. During this stage we developed a stronger commitment to the team goal. When this happened we notice progress. When we were on this stage, we took advantage of the opportunity because we worked on team building and setting goals. The team instructor helped establish group norms by providing the right amount of training, feedback, attention and commitment to the group.

Conclusion

Without noticing my dance group experienced every developmental stage there was. We went from not being comfortable around each other to talking to each other on a daily basis. The most instrumental in the group’s failure would have to be storming stage because we almost failed. This group has taught me self-confidence and social skills.     During the forming stage, the team showed hard work ethic. Rules were put into place that all members agreed to keep. The rules mainly consisted of communicating any issues, and have the assignment done to be put together two days before the due date. Assignments were done with ease. The quality of work was excellent, and finished on time. As assignments started to get harder the team moved into the storming stage.     Over the course of the semester, I have learned about different types of dances including hip hop, dance hall, and contemporary, Bhangra, street jazz, Latin, zumba and more.
