Clay Dillow’s essay “To Catch a Bombmaker” emerged in October 2015 in Popular Science. This was a well written article whose main purpose was to inform the audience about a “little-known FBI forensics lab” (Dillow 54). His use of critical thinking in all eight elements only made his argument more valid and additionally convincing. Each one of these elements was covered thoroughly along with the use of strategies such as ethos and logos, which further the evidence that he was presenting. By utilizing his professional tone and moreover unveiling factual events, Dillow was able to produce a successful essay.…
Andy begins to speak to himself as if he were really speaking to Laura. He states: “I love you, Laura” (Hunter 101). During his last moments all he thinks about is the fact of him leaving Laura and never getting to say his final good-byes. Furthermore, he starts to wonder if he would ever get a glimpse of her again. On this occasion, “It was then that he wondered if he would ever kiss Laura again” (Hunter 100). The symbol of wanting to kiss Laura is a way of expressing his affection towards her. By Andy wanting to kiss Laura means that he probably wants to see her again and talk to her. As a result, Andy proves he is loving when all he wants and thinks of doing before dying is to see Laura one last time and kiss her. Andy shows he is a complex human through all of the emotions running through his mind having to do with his affectionate and loving relationship with…

When the reader first reads this short story, it is puzzling and random, but as it is read multiple times you begin to understand Browns’ writing style and her unusual development. The reader starts to recognize that the songs represent certain moments of a person’s life when they are at a particular stage in love. For example, a person starts out alone in life, “’All By Myself (Eric Carmen)” (1). Then a person begins the torturous hunt for love, “’Looking for Love (Lou Reed)” (1). When a person finally finds that one person, they begin to become physical with one another and become even more attached to that one special person, perhaps hey even begin a relationship, “’Let’s Talk About Sex” (Salt N’ Peppa)” (3). “’I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend (The Ramones)” (4). The establishment of every relationship is the best part and the happiest time for the couple, therefore the cheeriest and sweetest songs are the beginning of this short story.…
When people think about love, they should think about understanding, and not about it being difficult or hard. In Catron’s video regarding love, she describes it as being associated with pain and suffering. She presents the definition of smitten and shows that it can mean, grievously stricken, or very much in love. Catron shows how love can be burdensome and even stressful at times, but also infatuating towards another person. She emphasizes the comparison of love to other unseemingly characteristics throughout the rest of the Ted Talk.…
The People Bomb was a CNN film from 1992 that focuses on the many issues of economics and health due to the continuing swell of human population. The video examines the growth patterns of the population boom, which some countries are at the greatest risk, and what can be done to help. The video emphasizes the estimate that at the current population growth rate, there will be over three times the number of people on the earth at the end of the 21st century as there were at the beginning. This estimate was made nine years ago so I can only assume the numbers are worse now.…
The next song is Give Me One Reason by Tracy Chapman. This is one of my favorite songs, because the sound of it speaks to my soul. It reached #3 on the US Billboard Hot 100 in 1996 making it Chapman’s biggest US hit to date. Although it is a break up song, it is more of a plea for a reason to not give up on the relationship. The conclusion of the song though is the partner stating that love was already proclaimed and there is nothing left to say.…

Have you ever think that you would die for someone who ignore all your love? I would not do that because it is such a crazy thing to do for someone like that. However, the song "Grenade" by Bruno Mars is about a guy who would die for such a "not so nice" woman. According to Bruno Mars, his friend Benny Blanco, a famous song writer, gave him the idea to write the story of this song. After playing on the radio for a while, this song was one of the most favorite song in America. According to Paul Grein, a music chart watcher, this song became his second solo single to top the 2 million mark in paid downloads and has sold over 3 millions downloads in the US. In addition, talking of communication, this song contains different concepts or principles such as love styles, dyadic break down process, haptics, and kinesics in non-verbal communication.…
Its like we never knew each other at all, it may be my fault, I gave you too many reasons, being alone, when I didn't want to I thought you'd always be there, I almost believed you, All this time, I still remember everything you said, oh There's so much you promised, how could I ever forget.…
In the songs “Jolene” by Dolly Parton and “Before He Cheats” by Carrie Underwood, we are shown two women’s take on infidelity. One perspective shows us a woman’s vengeance, and her reaction to being betrayed, but does so in a way that is light-hearted and slightly comical. The other paints a much more personal and vulnerable picture, it’s Dolly’s plea to the “other woman”. Both of these perspectives are easily relatable to the listener, because we have all felt broken, we have all felt vengeful, and we have all felt the breath of fresh air after you pick yourself up.…
The first Burger King restaurant in Miami in the mid-1950s featured a walk-up window, a limited menu (burgers and shakes for 19¢, sodas and fries for 10¢), and "your food ready by the time you 'd paid for it." As one early manager recalled, "Our windows faced front so we could see customers driving in. With the limited menu, we pretty much knew what they 'd order and we 'd have it ready." In the 1960s and 1970s, Burger King developed an assembly-line production process that delivered a fresh, hot, high-quality sandwich, yet that had the flexibility to customize that sandwich. One executive explained, "Market research showed us that our ability to give the customer what he wanted clearly differentiated us from McDonald 's, so we capitalized on it." The following jingle was used by Burger King in the 1970s: Hold the pickles, hold the lettuce Special orders don 't upset us All we ask is that you let us serve it your way. Later, however, Fortune noted: Hold the jingle. The Burger King hamburger chain has abandoned that bouncy promise to build its sandwiches to suit the customer. Tailoring Whopper Sandwiches was manageable when relatively few fast-food fanciers were coming through the doors. But now so many are lining up, at least at peak hours, that special orders are, well, upsetting. Burger King will still make it your way, if you insist, but isn 't going to invite you to and rather hopes you won 't. 1…
