Apple : In the declining e-tablet market in the US

Executive Summary
The assignment looks at the trend of the e-tablet market in the US and analyses Apple’s position in the market. The entire market is in a critical position due to the suddent decline in the market. As such, after analysing the trend through the use of various models like SWOT, PESTEL and PORTER’S FIVE FORCES analysis, we have tried to recommend some strategies that Apple can incorporate to retain the position in the tablet market. Also the assignment covers the programs and strategies followed by Apple and their effect on the company’s position. Through a careful industry analysis , we have tried to bring out the best practices followed by Apple and the areas it needs to work on.

1.0 Introduction

Apple is a California based corporation founded in 1977. The products and services offered include Iphone, Ipad, mac, Ipod, Mac, Apple TV with each working on the company’s unique business strategy of designing and developing its own operating system, hardware, software application and services. With the launch of Ipad in 2010, it became a huge success overnight as millions of people bought ipad during the first few months. However, in recent years, the market for ipad is said to be contracting, despite all the innovation and designs. (Apple Annual Reports, 2013)
