REFLECTION

Last Thursday, November 21, 2013, was an unforgettable day for me because it was the day of our business fair, one of the most, awaited activities of the year. Our last year’s business fair was a successful one and I expected the same this year. My expectations didn’t fail me and unexpected things keep coming as the business operation takes place. One of the most challenging parts of it for me was when it rained and we had to take cover. But when we took cover, the business must go on and there were only a few customers coming. I thought that we would be having a big loss but it still ended up great.

I learned a lot from this experience. One of these things are the risks taken by entrepreneurs are truly high. They can never be sure of what will happen to their business that’s why I can say that being a businessman takes some guts. Working with some of my classmates also made me know them better. It is just like what we discussed in types of business organization according to ownership that the decision of one person will greatly affect the entire group. And this effect brought out the real them. I am glad I got to do business with them and I really enjoyed every moment of it. It was nice to do it with someone other than my friends because it brought out the best in me.

When we were planning the event, we had to go through some difficult time for example, we couldn’t agree on the food that we are going to sell such as, I was saying to sell hot food, someone was saying to sell cake and another team member was saying to sell sweets, but in the end we made the decision to sell sweets and crisps and drinks and we all agreed on…

Soonerthon is a year-long fundraising event ending with a twelve-hour dance marathon in the spring. All the proceeds raised benefits The Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City through funding medical research and family support programs. The programming committee is in charge of planning every minute of the twelve-hour event dance marathon. Within the committee, my personal responsibility was to design and organize a children’s carnival at the main event for the “miracle kids” from the hospital. The joy that radiated from the children that passed through the carnival was contagious, not only to myself but also to the other 2,000 OU students that attended the Soonerthon event as well.…

It was Tuesday, March first, 2011, my mother woke me up so I can start getting ready for school. I rose with eager anticipation, just four more days until my thirteenth birthday and I just couldn’t wait. I brushed my teeth and hurried down to eat the complimentary breakfast offered to us by the hotel we were staying at. You see we had been staying at a hotel for the past five months because the home we had been renting was foreclosed on so the utility companies turned off the power and the electricity. We had to get down at just the right time so that there was a small crowd but a lot of food so that we can take food back to the room to save for dinner. After breakfast, we…

A fresh breeze blew and ruffled the grass at the Lake of the Woods golf course in Mahomet, Illinois. The leaves fell from the trees and drifted amongst the wind. As I hauled the unopened tent towards my destination, there was lots of chatter, as well as some excitement, but no one spoke of the possibility of success in the monumental task ahead. We set up the tent and waited. We were awaiting the moment that we would go to where they had specified the activity to begin, the moment where most of the team would receive the opportunity to attempt the task we had been striving forward to achieve for the last few months. Except for me, I would be required to stay there just to cheer for those who participate, unless someone became injured to the…

It was just a boring day in my hometown, a traditional, weak entrance a lot of narrative stories use to try to get the attention of the readers. This story, however, isn’t one of those traditional stories; this one involves a day that had been exciting up to that point already. The memory that resonates daily throughout my mind would have to be the time when I went to Six Flags for the first time in my life. Before I jump into my story, I should tell you my friends mess with each other a lot, almost to the point where we get into fights with each other.…

It was a ferociously gloomy day in the heart of Center City. The time of the observation was from 11:43 am to 12:43pm. Sandwiched between 15th street and John F. Kennedy Boulevard is the Philadelphia's Municipal Services Building and within the plaza of the building lies Board Game Park. Even in the rain, the park was festive. Upon arriving, it began to drizzle. The drizzle was light enough for me to sit by a statue that was composed of multiple bodies piled on top of one another. The noises heard ranged from rain dropping, to horns honking to people laughing or shouting. In the surrounding area of the Board Game Park is Love Park with its remarkable LOVE sculpture and fountain, which was spewing pink water in support of Breast Cancer Awareness…

When rain finally came this fall and more was promised via el nino, my spirits rose and visions of green, verdant hills and cloudy days danced in my mind. On a cold, cold for this area, day in December, my wife and I drove our daughter to meet a friend in Walnut Creek. I had not been to the area in years, as I am not much for shopping. Pulling into the upscale mall area, I was taken aback by the amount of traffic. Lines of cars and people were everywhere. Pulling out of the…

In an ideal world it would be nice if every business event went by without any problems. However this is not the case. At times there will be problems for those people supporting events. The magnitude of the problem may be something minor that is no more than an inconvenience through to something that may threaten the whole event. A problem occurs when the proceedings of an event are impeded by a failure or underperformance of people, processes or equipment that result in the event failing to achieve its objectives. Typical problems that can occur include: • • • People problems Equipment problems Process problems.…

It was a simple beginning to a beautiful day in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The dry morning air brought a wealth of warmth to my tired skin. "Today is a day of opportunity," I thought. I would hopefully be entering the work force after a long battle with unemployment. I was excited because my days were filled with nothing but boredom and my mind was occupied with nothing but despair. Hopefully, today would be the day that I left my past behind me.…
