In the story “Baucis and Philemon,” a woman and her husband are rewarded for helping others and receive multiple rewards such as a new beautiful home, and multiple wishes that were granted such as never being separated even after death. This demonstrates the two themes of “True love lasts forever” and “Kindness is always rewarded.” In the story “Pirate Grace,” a pirate named Grace and her crew request shelter and food from the king of a friendly clan. However, they are refused these right because the king is trying to enjoy his meal and are told to go elsewhere. Due to this, Grace takes vengeance by kidnapping the king’s son, demanding an apology, and making the king vow to always help others who are in need and to keep an extra seat in his dining hall in case anyone needed it.
