to me. I believe this has to do with the fact that education is the basis for a new beginning and for me that is wanting to become an oral surgeon. I also believe that education is such a pivotal moment in each of our lives because we see our teachers and professors pour their hearts and soul into us with nothing in return but for the application of their knowledge in our lives. To me, there are only a few jobs that are so selfless and extremely difficult, and this is why I always have and always will have the utmost respect for educators. However, when I read the news, whether it is virtually portrayed or through the newspaper, I am often saddened as to the extent that our government seems to attack the education of its youth. This includes teacher shortages and the ever dreadful budget cuts. So it was without a doubt that when I read about how underfunded libraries affected education, I knew that with my passions so deeply tied to education, I had to write a research paper on the effect of budget cuts on schools performance. Throughout the bulk of the assignment, I consistently struggled to operate the Winthrop databases.
It is nice to know that the sources which are brought up through these databases are reliable, however, they are very finicky and hard to find the perfect source. I underestimated the amount of time that is needed when searching for information through these databases. I first thought I could just search what written was looking for and have all of my sources within an hour, but I guess that is why this paper is a research paper and takes more invested time to find the necessary sources to write the paper. I also had a little bit of a problem connecting my topic with the part of underfunded libraries in the book in which this paper is based on. Although these topics are highly interconnected, I felt like I should have written more about it throughout my paper than I
did. Overall, I fell in love with the topic of my paper. It depicts how education is like the foundation for bigger dreams and ambitions, but without the core essentials of education, this foundation cannot be supportive. I had some minor problems with this paper, however, I believe that the paper came together beautifully and I am more than happy to have had the time to approach a topic that I care so much about.
