Build Self-Esteem
How Do We Build Self-Esteem?

Unfortunately it is easier said than done, but if you're committed to it and constantly work on it you do get there eventually. I've broken this down into steps to make life easier:

1. Don't be so hard on yourself:Cut yourself some slack. Get comfortable with being yourself around yourself.

2. Relax:Remaining calm is a major plus in ANY situation. Take deep breaths and slow down.

3. Compliment yourself:Stop looking at the negative within and start looking for the positive. By all means work on the negatives but concentrate on your positives for the time being and project them.

Now we've covered self-esteem let's move onto confidence.

How Do We Boost Our Confidence?

Also easier said than done, but also achievable.

Stand tall: Quit slouching. Stand straight and tall. Fill the space your in. Remember to keep your head up and your shoulders back. There's no need to over-compensate though. Keep yourself relaxed.

2. Talk slower: Slow your talking down. This gives you time when talking to think about what you're going to say. Try it!

3. Smile: Providing the situation allows it, smile. Smiling projects happiness and confidence. Simple.

4. Make Eye Contact: When talking or listening, make eye contact. There's no need to 'out-stare' or even stare in general, as this is just creepy.

5. Talk with your hands: This isn't usually mentioned but I believe it works. When telling a story, or even talking in general make gestures with your hands. This helps use up the space your in and, in turn, projects confidence.

6. Don't be Afraid to be you: Keep the freaky bits and nasty habits to yourself, but other than that don't be afraid to be yourself around others. Share your hobbies and interests. If you're naturally cocky, be cocky. Just don't be offensive; ensure anything you say is projected in the way it's meant (I.E, a joke). Allow other people to see who you really are; this creates a character that people can warm to and thus projects confidence.

This pretty much covers the basics on projecting

Too often people’s values are based on superficial Ideas, as well as unreal goals that our consumer driven society showcases as the ultimate show of success. In the play The Death of a Salesman, Arthur Miller illustrates a society where ethics are based solely around becoming wealthy and obtaining the American dream, through the use of looks and popularity. The main character Willy Loman spends his entire life in fallacy starving for this success. The Death of a Salesman portrays a specific view of the values, dreams, and goals in a consumer driven society. Much like the play our society is driven by ideals of wealth, popularity, and attractiveness and we are faced with falseness of these ideal daily. Plenty of individuals in society search for this similar success in life and career. They may spend their whole lives trying to fall into the category of being a Success. This may lead them to never knowing what true happiness really feels like, because they are searching for something that was never intended to be and it leads to inevitable unhappiness.…

After making the right group of friends at the time, they urged me to open up and not be so tense. While getting to know them, I noticed how they were like me, but they were so confident when speaking in front of others. Their voice never shook and they didn’t stumble over their words. They spoke with ease and assurance, while I was choking up every single time I tried to utter a single sentence. I constantly tried to articulate my words as best as I could, but every time I did, I would just get discouraged. This discouragement stuck with me all the way until the beginning of high school.…

The easiest way to be confident in yourself is to stand up straight and be proud of yourself, no matter what you look like. Be proud of just who you are, not what other people think you should be. Being confident is all about learning to love the skin you're in. Wake up each morning with a positive thought in mind. Instead of looking in the mirror and naming all the negative things, pointing out things I don't like about myself, I point out things I like about myself. Get involved in something that your good at, show off your talents. It will make you inspire more of others, that alone should make you smile. If you don’t take a stand, and be more, you will just end up losing your goal and get lazy, instead of pursuing with all you have, because its want you want. Just like the saying “ lift up your head princess, your crown is falling”. Before you can do anything to help others you have to believe that you can do it. Even if all you can do is look confident then you have proved to the people what you are really worth. To act confident is to be confident, to look, you have to have the nerve to do so, resulting in confidence. To be confident you must act so, or you'll lose respect from peers. When you know yourself, you are empowered. When you accept yourself, you are invincible. Everyone is holding back something, really think about your self, are you willing to let go of that security cover and show pure, release? So you're scared of that person that make fun of you? Well let me tell you this, they feel bad about themselves, so they bring you down, make you hide, WHO CARES! They are going to do what they want, NO MATTER WHAT, that’s the harsh reality! Same goes for you, you can change and do want you want. You can only control you, but if you find confidence, you will soar so high, there words and actions cannot affect you. You can be better than them, you are better than…

Find yourself and define yourself on your terms. Oscar Wilde once said with his usual wit: Be yourself; everyone else is already taken. As humorous as this might seem, it's a basic summation of the truth. Yet, you can't be yourself if you don't know, understaend, and accept yourself first. It should be your primary goal to find this out. Find the time to dwell upon what you value and take time to consider what makes up the essence of who you are. As part of this, contemplate your life and choices. Try to think about what kinds of things you would or wouldn't like to do, and act accordingly; finding out through trial and error helps more than you might think it does. You can even take personality tests, but be careful to only take what you want from them so that you do not let such tests define you. Instead, ensure that the defining you do is based on your own terms and is something you feel absolutely comfortable with. You may feel self-conscious, but over time if you are around the right type of people for you, they will accept you for who you are.And love and start to look at the real you.…
