Where is the Plenum section of the room and why is it important?
The plenum is between the structural ceiling and the drop-down ceiling. The plenum is also under the raised floor. Horizontal cable travels through the plenum to the telecommunication outlet.

What is the purpose of Riser cabling?
Cable that is to be run between floors in non-plenum areas is rated as riser cable. Riser rated cable cannot be used where there is air flow in the space

What is the purpose of horizontal cabling?
Horizontal wiring connects telecommunications rooms to individual outlets or work areas on the same floor.

Crosstalk
When does Crosstalk occur?
Cross talk in electronic communications is when one signal interferes with another signal making the information carried in the signals unreadable.

As current flows through a conductor, what is produced? The terminology for a steady flow of electrons through a conductor is called the current of the circuit

What is induction and how does it cause Crosstalk? Induction causes current to move toward and backwards creating noise interference. Induction comes from the root induce because it refers to an induced voltage The induced current flows backwards and forwards through the circuit, creating noise interference.

What affect does distance between wires have on Crosstalk? Lower chances of interference and interruption

If wires are perpendicular to each other, how much Crosstalk is induced? The more perpendicular the wires are to each other the induced current would be less.

Noise

What is noise? Irregular fluctuations that accompany a transmitted electrical signal but are not part of it and tend to obscure it.

Does a small amount of noise negatively affect the signal? Degrades only marginally
