It is important to keep these ecosystems of water ways healthy as they are needed for many functions. Our waterways provide important habitats for many animals and plants. These plants and animals are all linked together with what is called a food web or chain, all these things coincide with each other, each having different relationships, keeping each other alive. But without creeks and water ways it can jeopardise the biodiversity of the ecosystem. Biodiversity is the variety of all life forms including animals & plants that can be found either in just one location or across the entire country.
The ways you can identify a healthy creeks is see if it has a good amount of biodiversity. The second most important part is the monitoring of the creek, which is done by running tests similar to what we did at those creeks. The things that are important to be observed are the temperature, ph., turbidity, toxic chemicals, land clearing, and human impact. Human impact has the biggest effect on the health and biodiversity of creeks. …show more content…
Biodiversity is the variety of all life forms, the different plants, animals and micro-organisms, the genes they contain and the ecosystems in which they live. Biodiversity underpins the ecological processes which make life on Earth possible The Nature Conservation Act 1922 identifies four levels of biodiversity. Regional diversity, the diversity of the landscape components of a region, and the working relationships that affect the conditions of the ecosystem. Ecosystem diversity, the diversity of the different types of communities formed by the living organisms of the ecosystem. Species diversity, which is the diversity of the species. Genetic diversity, which is the diversity of genes within each
