Bull Nelson Thesis
Have you heard of Bull Nelson? He was an important Civil War general for the Union. He helped to keep the states together. He was involved in many important events and an important part of them.

Bull Nelson was born in Maysville, KY. On September 27, 1824. He Was the third child and youngest son of Dr. Thomas W. Nelson. His family was seen as an important one, by its friends and neighbors. Nelson was enrolled in the Collegiate Department of Captain Partridge's military school at the age of 13. He was in military school for 2 years. Many of the students at the military school displayed bad behavior. Like rolling cannonballs down stairs and staying up all night when ordered to go to bed.

Nelson joined the Navy in 1835. He was then ordered to fight Mexico in 1847. Five thousand Mexicans surrendered

Nelson’s reason for taking this leave was to escort the Magary’s grand tour of the United States. Nelson was put on the Niagara to rescue slaves from slave ships. For each slave they got $25 which they shared by rank. This extra work helped Nelson to pay back his debts. The Niagara saved over three hundred African Americans. The Niagara and its crew saved many African Americans from the horrors of slavery.

Many states were fighting for slavery and many were even willing to break away from America. Slavery is one of the biggest reasons for the civil war. Nelson was murdered by Jefferson Davis. A lower ranked general. On Sept. 1862 over an insult. No charges were put on Davis for murdering Nelson and he was let free. Nelson ordered to be baptized before he died and he asked God to forgive him for his sins. He was buried in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.

Bull Nelson was an important part of the Civil War and its outcome. If he was not a part of the Civil War, then some of the states might have broken away from America. Bull Nelson may not have been a very nice man, but did he really deserve to be shot and killed over an

    Most important battle in Civil War. “No other campaign and battle in the was had such momentous, multiple consequences as Antietam.”(P.155) The battle has a significant role in the Civil War. “It is the beginning of the end of the rebellion; the beginning of the new life of the nation. Of the wounded on both sides, at least two thousand would die of their wounded.”(P. 129) They use their lives in exchange for the freedom and happiness of the people today . Soldiers in the battle worthy of admiration . Although at the end of the battle , civil war still going on. But the battle determines the northern army 's victory. “GREAT WICTORY.
