Bullies Should Be Held Legally Responsible
We all know what bullying is. We usually tend to think of it as some huge kid threatening to beat you up if you don’t give them your lunch money. But sometimes, bullying goes so much further than that. Sometimes bullies go too far, and their victims make the unfortunate choice of ending their own lives. As awful as it is, it happens every day, and the worst part about it is those bullies aren’t held legally accountable for their actions, but they should be.
Bullying is a form of harassment. It damages people physically and mentally. Even though the “normal” type of harassment is illegal, bullying someone literally to death isn’t. Rebecca Ann Sedwick was one of those victims who were bullied to death. She was a 12 year old girl in high school, and several other girls began taunting and making fun of her over a boyfriend issue. The taunting and teasing didn’t let up. Rebecca was both verbally and physically assaulted. One girl was reported telling Rebecca to “drink bleach and die”. Eventually Rebecca couldn’t take it anymore and she climbed to a concrete tower and hurled herself to her death. Rebecca was harassed, which is against the law, but people don’t seem to understand that.
In addition to being a form of harassment, bullies should be held legally accountable for their actions because those who bully know the difference between right and wrong. In the case of minors, when bullying gets brought up, many people bring up the fact that their brains are not fully developed until the age of 20 or so. This is true, and I do not dispute it. However, just because their brains aren’t entirely developed does not mean that shouldn’t be held accountable for their actions. If a minor cheated on a test, would the claim about their brains be considered legitimate and make it to where they don’t receive punishment? Of course not, so why should bullying someone to death be any different? Finally, bullies should be legally responsible for their actions because it would

We are taught to follow The Golden Rule (to treat others the way we want to be treated.) Bullies completely ignore that rule and do what they want, but when normal students simply are late for class, they could have detention! Yes, bullies are punished, but in my opinion, they are not punished well enough. Bullies can be so aggressive that teachers are too scared to stand up for the victim or too even punish the bully! If you agree that teachers, principals, parents, cops, and more, need to stand up and give harsher punishments to bullies this is the paper for you! If you think that the punishments that we are giving now are fine, keep reading because I might just change your mind.…

Bullying can take a variety of forms. Bullying can happen when people, post negative comments on pictures, post abusive posts on a user's wall, use pictures or videos to make fun of another person, or when use social media to stalk. It can happen on Facebook, Twitter, Whats app, Snapchat, and Instagram. The effect of social media bullying is often more dangerous than physical bullying, especially at the beginning. However, if parents do not watch their children, the end result can be tragic. The bullying in social media has caused the instances of teen suicide to rise dramatically. This is because many teens do not have the emotional capacity to deal with bullying, and it may lead to dangerous things, like skipping school, or using alcohol or drugs. Parents should talk to the kids and teach them how to deal with bulling and always tell the parents if anybody post defamatory information about them, so parents can contact the social networking site with a complaint. And take a legal action if these activities get out of hand. But unfortunately, sometimes bullying will not stop. As an example, by Sam Florella, “Cyber-Bullying, Social Media, and Parental Responsibility.”The Huffington Post article, what happened to Rebecca Sedwick, of Lank Land, Fla, who jumped from a cement factory tower on September 9th,2013.'' While only two girls were arrested for bullying, which allegedly caused Sedwick to commit suicide, authorities…

Bullying is a form of abuse that is displayed toward the victim which forms an unhealthy relationship. This relationship consists of the bully having continual control of the victim’s life for an extended period of time. It gives the bully a sense of empowerment that they continue to feed off of. This is much different from school aged aggression that typically has a one-time occurrence, such as fighting or teasing between friends. Conversely, bullying can lead to suicide. Bully related suicide can be connected to any type of bullying, whether it is physical bullying, emotional bullying, cyber bullying, sexting, or even the circulating of suggestive photos of a person. Sadly, over 14 percent of high school students have considered suicide and almost seven percent have actually attempted it.…

Bullying is a pattern of aggressive behaviour meant to hurt or cause discomfort to another person. Bullies always have more power than victims. Their power comes from physical size, strength, status, and support within the peer group. There are 3 types of bullying. They are verbal, physical and social. Verbal bullying occurs when someone uses language to gain power over his or her peers. Physical bullying occurs when a person uses overt bodily acts to gain power over peers. Social bullying is deliberate, repetitive and aggressive social behavior intended to hurt others. Bullying for any types of reason is wrong. As a final point, cyberbullying should be criminalized because criminalizing will act as a deterrent to future bullies and of the way its non-criminalized statute impacts the bullies. First, people who cyberbully others are rarely ever sued, much less charged with a crime. Here is a scenario, there is a child who is about to cyberbully someone. This child knows that it is very unlikely that they will get in trouble with law for this because it is not illegal and cyberbullying is usually not reported anyways, so the child proceeds with the act of cyberbullying. Now, same scenario, but this time cyberbullying is criminalized. That same child will know have to think about how they could get jail time because cyberbullying is illegal, so the child decides to not…

Bullying is a natural and insecure way to relief some sadness out of everyone and pain by hurting others but it's not the good or best way to do so. If everyone would just think about it bullying is actually unhealthy for everyone, yes it feels good to feel in power and more stronger than the peers and countless of people have all done it before but it could hurt the people the most then help the people due to the fact that all everyone really is doing is hurting the person instead of helping the person feel better because of their insecurity and their hurt by something personal. But, that still shouldn't give everyone the right to purposely and hurtfully verbally or possibly even abuse the innocent person. Deep down everyone feels bad for doing such a sad and bad action but everyone only does it because it makes everyone selfish because everybody doesn't deserve to be treated like trash just because everyone's feelings are hurt by something personal or the past. Instead, everyone should all work together…
