Bullying Short Essay
Bullying Suicide has become the third leading cause of death among youth between the ages of 12-18 years old (Education). Every thirty minutes a teen attempts suicide due to bullying (Risk-within-Research). About forty-seven students are bullied every 5 minutes. (Risk-within-research). Bullying has always been a problem, but it’s becoming more common. Many students know someone who is a bully or has been bullied. Teens who suffer from bullying are at a higher risk to consider attempting to take their life (Education). Bullying is a problem sign a pledge and stand up. Selected schools offer pledges to stand up against bullying. Signing a pledge and following through can help save a life, even if it’s just inviting someone to sit with you at lunch or giving someone a compliment. Towards the end of the video you see multiple people with the words “I stand up” written on their hands. This is an example of logical evidence because we have stood up and signed the pledge due to being bullied or seen someone being a victim of bullying. Will you sign the pledge? Throughout the video you see a child getting bullied, this is a form of PATHOS because you see him hurting emotionally and physically, you feel bad for him. “Seventy one percent of students report bullying as an ongoing problem” said by Tony Bartoli (risk-within-reason). This is the D in drapes. In the video you can see that the problem is ongoing. Males are more likely to physically bully others and take their own lives(Education). Females tend to engage in socially bullying, they are also more likely to have self-harming thoughts and have symptoms of depression (Education). Girls are less likely to attempt to take their own lives than males (Education). You can make a change, sign a pledge, and stand up to bullying. Be that one person to impact a person’s life. They will never be able to forget you. You saved them.

Jamie Nabozny was bullied for years and eventually he brought it to court. He was making a case against the school for not protecting him and one of the bullies, Roy Grande, was brought into court to testify. Mary Podlesny, Jamie’s middle school principal, denied everything in court, that they had heard about the bullying and had been in a meeting with parents about the bullying. Near the end of the trial, Jamie talked himself, and it brought him to tears, speaking about all he went through as a kid: the constant taunting, kicking, and punching, wearing him down. Reliving all of that must have been terrible for him, but it won him the case. He earned $900,000 from the school and the bullies were completely ashamed. This could happen to any bully out there and everyone should realize that bullying is just not worth…

I even stood up to someone who was being teased about who they chose to love as a romantic partner, because I know how defenseless someone can be in that position. Of course after doing so that girl tried to spread rumors about me, but that didn't stop me. However, as a senior, there's nothing I can do now to grow awareness to girl-to-girl bullying. But when I graduate college, I'll use my new skills to create games or shows that with grab the attention of all ages to open the awareness. Our generation is growing in technology as well as the demand in games and shows. If my creations become popular enough it may help kids and adults see the importance of anti-bullying, and maybe even show the bullies that what they do is not just a joke to laugh at with their friends, or a way to vent off their own issues. Winning this scholarship can definitely help my funds to do so, but I don't mind getting it or not. I just thought it'd be a nice way to share my story and how I plan to stop it. So thank you for taking the time to read this, and if others get the chance to read this, I hope they're inspired to do something about ending…

physical injuries resulting from a psychological condition). In order to address this issue of bullying, students I worked with at my service learning placement were tasked with creating a PowerPoint identifying why bullying is an issue and outlining a specific service project in which they, as a group, would work together to solve the problem. Overall, students decided to raise awareness about bullying in order to encourage their peers to not tolerate it. One group of students chose to create posters to display around the school, all of which exposed startling facts and statistics relating to the effects of bullying, while another chose to spark a campaign within the school that encouraged the use of the phrase “No Hate Here” among the student body, which symbolizes the intolerance of hate and bullying between students. Unfortunately, it is impossible to know if the projects had any impact on the amount of bullying in the school, but the activities my students and I partook in certainly raised awareness of the impacts of bullying and spread the message that harassment in any form will not be tolerated by a vast majority of the student…
