Have you ever heard about bungee jump? Have you ever dream to play bungee jump? There are some facts and safety measures about bungee jumping. These include the history about bungee jumping and the types of bungee jumping .
Firstly, to give you all a clearer image about bungee jumps, I would like to mention about the history of bungee jumping. Bungee jumping is a sport that dramatically evolved over the past couple decades. The first bungee jumping is based on an age-old ritual practiced by the “ land divers” of Pentecost island in Vanuantu. Male villagers jumped from wooden platforms with vines tied to their ankles. It was seen as a rite of passage to manhood and a test of courage. Next, the pioneer of modern commercial bungee jumping is A J Hackett, a New Zealander. Hackett performed the first commercial bungee jump in 1986 in Auckland and opened the first permanent bungee site in the world at Kawarau Bridge, Queenstown. As bungee jump evolved, there are more and more commercial bungee site to fulfill the wish of the adventurous people. The most famous bungee jump commercial site is located at Macau tower in China, its height is 233m which is the tallest in the world while Verzesca Dam in Switzerland at 220m placed behind Macau tower. After knowing the history about bungee jump. I would like to continue the speech with my second point that is types of bungee jump. There are five main types of bungee jump. The plain old style- Attached either through a let harness or body harness to a bungee cord or cords, you propel toward the earth. Once the cord(s) reach their maximum flexibility, you would rebound a few times. Typical jumpers practiced about 2 to 4 rebounds, giving them the impression of weightlessness. second type of bungee jumping is addressed ‘the catapult’.
