Management Planning There are many influences, both internal and external, that affect the way Tyco does business. Tyco is a diverse company built on four key values that shape how each employee interacts with each other and the rest of the economy. These four key values are what built the company to what it is today. They are; Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, and Accountability. Without these values Tyco would not be the great company it is today. “At Tyco, we have a shared pledge to promote our values of Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork and Accountability and are proud to highlight these principles in the way we approach philanthropic giving and community involvement.”(Tyco, 2013) Tyco makes it very evident to each employee what they expect of them. Tyco is a very diverse company that provides services such as security and fire protection services. All of the products Tyco sells are designed, manufactured, sold and maintained by them. Some of the brands they produce are ADT®, Simplex®, Visonic® and many others. They are the sole source of all of their products. Tyco’s competitive edge is that they begin with their employee’s. A company as successful as Tyco, boosted an annual revenue of 10+ billion dollars in 2011-2012. These figures make Tyco a place where people want to work and be a part of their growth. Because of such high earnings Tyco has had some internal issues with employee integrity, accountability, and teamwork.
In 2002, former CEO Mr. Kozlowski and Executive Vice President Mr. Swartz of Tyco were, “convicted of grand larceny, falsification of business records and conspiracy and are serving up to 25 years in New York state prisons.” (Norris, July) Due to their failed leadership, planning, teamwork, integrity and accountability Tyco has completely restructured management and how they run things. It is very important to have creditability in today’s economy and they are still struggling with this. The company was gutted of
