Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this unit, you should be able to:
1. Demonstrate knowledge of theory and practice of SHRM, and the impact on strategic human resource management in a global environment;
2. Analyse the impact on international HRM of the increased focus on knowledge and management and diversity;
3. Demonstrate knowledge of International HRM practices in managing human resources, such as recruitment and selection, performance management, rewards, training and development, and organisational design;
4. Consider how to utilise best practice in HRM to manage diversity in domestic and international operations;
5. Critically discuss the necessity for high quality and ethical decision making in international organisations; 6. Evaluate strategies utilised for managing the HR practices of a diverse, international organisation.

The unit emphasises the strategic role of human resources and their contribution to organisational performance in a global context. This unit draws out differences and similarities involved in practices within different countries, paying particular attention to social, political, religious and economic factors behind different outcomes. Ethics in International HRM along with cultural sensitivities are also key considerations in this unit.
