Business Case Analysis: Tim's Speedy Delivery Service
Tim's Speedy Delivery Service is looking an employee to fill a newly created position due to the increased workload the company is facing. The company wants to ensure it stays true to its mission by providing customers with a reliable and diligent delivery service for a wide array of goods. The business is locally owned and is small in size consisting of only 15 employees. The owner is laid back and promotes employees interacting with customers since he highly values customer satisfaction. He believe this strategy has differentiated his company from the competition and ranks this aspect higher than educational background and work experience.

These traits tie in with the company's values which have kept them unique and successful throughout the years. Also, as to avoid potential discrimination cases against the business, HR has carefully included only bona fide occupational qualifications as means to disqualify certain applicants. The position is one that requires heavy lifting so each candidate must be able to meet the minimum physical conditions as to complete the position's responsibilities as well as ensure injuries do not occur. Secondly, the job will entail interacting with customers, so a level of communication skills is required. The advantages of an unstructured interview would better suit the position since it allows the interviewer to have a meaningful conversion with the candidates and ask unique questions that may occur on the job. The interviewer can see how well the candidates handle interaction with people and events that may not have a clear or correct answer. Much of the potential employee's value comes from the employee themselves in the form of customer service which oftentimes is east to fake on paper. The application form will be short; consisting of only key information such as conversational skills and details about labor to include heavy lifting and attention-to-detail. Educational background and previous work experience is acknowledged, but not completely necessary as much of the responsibilities are learned outside of the classroom and more through on-the-job

An interview is a procedure designed to obtain information from a person through oral responses to oral inquiries. There are 3 ways to classify selection interview, which is a selection procedure designed to predict the applicants’ future job performance or capabilities based on applicants' responses to the interviewers’ inquiries; that is the structure of the interview, the contents of the interview and company’s administration of the interview. There are two types of interview structure that is structured interview and unstructured interview. Structured interviews are pre-planned, standardised and, pre-formatted questions to be asked that is relevant or related to the position offered, whilst an unstructured interviews are unplanned, unformatted and versatile questions, that most of the time non-related or relevant to the position, which can be an effective conversation icebreaker. The ways content interviews are designed are to have insights of the candidates as to how they will perform at work, hence the type of interview that will normally be executed are situational, behavioural, job-related and stress interviews. Question asked during a situational interview are describing the candidate’s behaviour and resolution when they encountered a certain situation by giving them a problematic or complex scenario. Behavioural interview differs slightly from situational interview whereby the interviewer questioned the candidate on how the candidate reacted to a certain situation in the past. A job-related question is when the interviewer asks the candidate about relevant past work experiences and job scopes.
