Abstract

This proposal is to provide facts and general opinions about the need for a new library on Drexel University’s campus. The purpose of this new library would be to make the campus a better place to work and live. The information in this proposal is concrete and precise so it will allow President Clifford Keevan to have a solid understanding of the benefits of approving this major project. This proposal also discusses the consequences of keeping the current library without any major renovations, and how this will continue to affect Drexel’s student life and overall image. The major topics in the report that will be covered are the general renovation of the current library’s facilities, expansion of academic materials, creation of developmental programs for students, and the fostering of a more welcoming atmosphere for student organizations. The current Hagerty Library has been open for over 25 years now, and is an eyesore for current and prospecting students. Having an attractive campus is a key factor in appealing to new students; and this all starts with our library. In conclusion, with Drexel’s current ambitions and future goals, this new library should be nothing short of the best.

    Library Hours: Open 24/7?

Many universities in today’s society have their share of problems, but sometimes the problems affect the students even more. At Shawnee State University (SSU), and other schools as well, the students tend to struggle on many issues. Some students have problems with fighting diversity that schools try to maintain. Others have issues with rising tuition rates and other fees that make college hard to afford. Deciding whether to live on or off campus, which classes to take, or even deciding to get a job or not, but I think one major problem that lies within especially SSU’s policies are the hours of our library. School libraries are made to serve the student, allowing them to work in peace and quiet on homework, projects, research, and other school activities, which should not change during any time of the day. If we ask students if they are able to finish his/her work in the allotted time, one may say, “Sure, of course, the library helps me to complete my work,” which may be great, but what about the students that do not get their work completed before the library closes? What are they to do?…
