Modern day Sweden is most notably known for their welfare state. They are reputed for the countries conscious efforts towards equality, fairness, and high values. While Sweden is filed with many different types of inventions I believe that one invention stands out above all the others. I believe that Sweden’s most important contribution to the word is the invention of dynamite. Dynamite is used so much that it is a house hold name, and without dynamite many of the places we visit or roads we use would not be possible. Also without many of the things that dynamite has contributed to the cultures of our world would not have been able to blend as they have.…

We are living in a period were trade is becoming more global by the day. Taxes and economic barriers seem to be like symptoms - from a disease - that fade away, as time goes by. The ability of fast communication between people and places has boosted many companies to expand in other countries. Yet, cultural and linguistic differentiations are the most sustainable features companies need to take under consideration, in a strategic planning of setting up abroad. A firm needs to become progressively more aware of the foreign cultures when aiming in a successful future in an international business environment. Attitudes towards work and material possessions, entrepreneurship, willingness to accept risk, politics, religion, customs, the role of the woman in society, social classes, respect of the law and social institutions, and their reflection on trade and business, should be examined very carefully.…

As can be seen in the previous sections, their problems stemmed from their lack of understanding French culture. Because of this, their entry strategy using wholly owned operations may not have been the right choice. In order to recommend a different strategy, the cultural distance theory will be used to better understand the differences between the home and host country. Based off of Hostede (1984) five dimensions, Makino and Reupert (2000) found that in respect to those five dimensions a company can determine its amount of ownership that should retain when choosing to enter a foreign market. The graph (Figure 2) below illustrates the cultural differences between France and the United States. Many of these differences contributed to the failures…

In our country it is not so rare to hear someone saying about Russian billionaires: “Hey! This guy is a big shot! And no wonder he has robbed our taxpayers in the 90’s!” Well, there is a great part of truth in these words. Of course it is the fact that our prominent businessmen have been still going hand in hand with some criminal leaders. And lamentable as it is many of them have scraped together their fortune exactly thanks to the pauperization of the great mass of the population in the end of the previous century. But actually do you think that honesty and decency are the first things a true business leader should possess? As for me, so I am sure that all the people including and businessmen ought to be fair to a certain degree. And to tell the truth I do not think that Russian oligarchs are the best example to follow, as I am among those people who believe that the money they have got are ill-gotten. But anyway there are so many tycoons deserving to be respected in the world. In my opinion Swedish businessmen are among the best ones. It has no sense to enumerate all of them by names, we do not know them at all. It is quite enough to note that exactly they have made such world-known and sought-after brands as IKEA, Ericsson, H&M. Swedish entrepreneurs are known in the business world for their diligence, punctuality, accuracy, professionalism, thoroughness, honesty and reliability in business relations. And what is more important I believe that business leaders in Sweden put in the first place the solution of social security problems of their subordinates. They want their workers to be well-to-do and satisfied with working conditions. So there is no doubt that businessmen from this country possess all the traits necessary for the business world. Of course business is something that everyone in the world wants to do, but the fact is that we do not always get lucky with that. There are so many requirements to meet to be a perfect entrepreneur and unfortunately many…
