Business Plan for Setting Up a New Gym

The name that has been chosen for my gym is ‘Creation’. I have chosen this name because it represents change i.e. by attending my gym the will come out a new person.
My target audience is the ages of 20-24, 25- 34 and 35-44, also both male and female. The reason I am targeting this particular audience because young adults are the most likely to take part in the vast majority of sports, but health clubs and gyms do not have the youthful profile that is portrayed in the media. The peak age for health-club membership is 25 to 34 and penetration is almost as high among 34 to 54 years olds, although it is lower 20 -24 for gym membership (refer to appendix 8). Also from the survey i have collected and analysed, column-chart 1 shows that the majority of people that attend the gym are between 22 to 30 people with 35%.

Creation Gym opening hours:

Peak Hours
Day Time
Monday – Friday 5.00am – 10.00pm
Saturday – Sunday 7.00am – 8.00pm

Off peak Hours

Monday – Friday 7.00am – 5.00pm
Saturday – Sunday 7.00am – 8.00pm

I have chosen these hours because, from the survey shows that majority of people use the gym between the hours of 5pm - 7pm and people who go to the gym say that 7pm – 10pm is also a suitable time.

This is shown from the survey (Column-chart 7), shows that the time more suitable for most people to use their gym is between 5pm – 7pm, this is because people said that it is the best time to use the gym because it is right after work where they are able to relive the stresses of work of the whole day and be a convenient time for them and most of the job are located close to the gym, so they would rather go to the gym for work. But then majority of the people from the survey suggested that they would rather using the gym from home because it is convenient from them to from home

The culture of the gym is slowly coming together just after two days of observations. The gym is primarily a male dominant place to do, but in our college the only area that is completely dominant is the weight lifting area and that’s only during prime hours. Also on the note of personal space there is noticeably a tendency for both male and female to have a certain amount of space around them like a personal bubble.…

I know for a fact that almost everyone has stepped into a gym once in their lives. I have met countless people who have said that they have been there, done that, and got the t-shirt; but what every single one of them has in common is some kind of excuse as to why they have stopped going in the first place - myself included. Anyone can enter a gym feeling bad about themselves and how they look, however, that moment they finished their workout, they are already feeling better about themselves. From my research, I conclude that the gym provides any active member of society - or potential activist - a way of increasing their flexibility, mobility, strength, endurance, overall health.…

The summer, a time of warm weather, long weekends, friends and holidays. It is also the time where many of us put down the junk food, get off the couch and come out of winter hibernation to enjoy the outdoors. It’s often not long after playing your first game of beach volleyball or running to catch the bus when you realise that your heart is racing, sweat is pouring down your face and you are breathing heavily. As you look up and watch everyone still running around you or as your stepping onto the bus only one thought is running through your mind “WOW I am out of shape!”. Now I am not here today to try and convince you to get into better shape. Starting a fitness routine is a commitment that an individual needs to decide on for themselves when the time is right for them. It is at this time when many people have the same debate, do you shell out the money for a gym membership? or do you invest in a home gym? My goal today is to persuade you so when or if you do decide to start a fitness routine you will choose to or at least consider the benefits of purchasing a gym membership over investing in a home gym. I believe this can be done by examining what many people think are the benefits of investing in a home gym. Which are saving money, convenience, and not having to deal with other members. After looking at these three points it will become clear that not all of them are completely true and joining a gym can satisfy these needs just as well if not better.…

The aim of this report is to present our Project to open a gym in Belas, more specifically in Massamá Norte (for further details see exhibit 1). This new gym, with an area of around 3000 m2 divided in three floors, would offer a broader range of activities when compared to what current competitors offer. Therefore, given the fact that all activities could be found in only one place (e.g. classes, pool, cardio) it would attract customers from the involving area: Massamá, Monte Abraão and Queluz (for further details see exhibit 2).…
