The course will examine topics in business strategy and management from an international and cross-cultural perspective. The course will start with a focus on strategy and management of international organizations; the second part of the course will focus on cross-cultural aspects of management issues, such as leadership, motivation, communication, negotiations, etc. Cases, exercises and videos will be discussed in class to illustrate the concepts and issues. Guest lecturers will also be invited for some classes. Class discussions will draw upon the resources of cultural diversity within the class to share information and enhance appreciation of different cultural perspectives on management. A major activity in the course will be field trips in the Hong Kong-China region to visit major business centres such as Shenzhen and Macau. Students are also encouraged to explore Hong Kong and the surrounding Pearl River Delta area to gain an appreciation of the local culture, history and commerce.

To help students develop personal skills in teamwork, project management and working in an international environment such as Hong Kong, in order to enhance skill levels for working in multi-cultural organizations and markets.
