This scene that I chose represents the first law. The first law is “an object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.” To summarize the first law, it means a object that is still will stay still or an object that’s moving will stay moving unless an unbalanced force acts on it. When Woody hadn’t reached Buster’s body yet, and was still in the middle of falling, Buster was perfectly
still and was just panting. However, when Woody finally reached Buster, Buster’s whole body moved down, therefore Newton’s first law happening. Woody( the unbalanced force) made Buster(the object) move.
When Woody jumped off the shelf, he fell down and did not float off in space because of gravity. He started to accelerate exactly 9.8m/s/s when he was falling, he was gaining speed and inertia. An example of an balanced force in the scene would be one of the bookshelves, they are not moving. Another example would be Buster when he was waiting for Woody to fall on him. An example of an unbalanced force would be Buster running to the yard sale or Woody falling onto Buster.
