1. Exploration: * 1970s government decided to develop the island into a holiday resort for local visitors and tourist 2. Involvement: * Since then, $420 million of private capital and $500 million of government funds were invested to develop the island 3. Development * 1974, Singapore cable car system was built * Linked Sentosa to Mount Faber * Through this link, many attractions were opened. For example: Fort Siloso, Surrender Chamber Wax Museum, Musical Fountain, and the Underwater world * 1982 Sentosa Monorail System open for visitors to move around Sentosa from various stations * 1992, The Causeway Bridge was opened, which connected Sentosa to the Mainland * 2007, new Sentosa Express was created to replace the old monorail service * Sentosa has three bus services. A Blue, Yellow, and Red line since 1998 * 2009, Construction of a new foot bridge called the Sentosa Boardwalk * Includes themed gardens, shops, and restaurants * Has many attractions such as adventure parks, oceanarium, observation towers, and parks 4/5. Consolidation & Stagnation * Many attractions closed down such as: golf, water parks, and many others due to loss of revenue. This shows that the numbers of tourists are decelerating, and also as fewer tourists arrive, no money can be made. For this reason, many of the park’s features and attractions were closed down.
