A major icon of the Cold War is the establishment and use of the "Berlin Wall".As researched, the Berlin Wall had a purpose to keep Western "fascists" from going into East Germany. The Berlin Wall stayed until November 9, 1989 as angry citizens attacked and chipped at the wall to escape prejudice from Germany. Its remnants are still a powerful reminder of the Cold War. Another event of the Cold War that made history was the ominous and fearful Cuban Missile Crisis. After the failure of the Bay Of Pigs mission where the united states tried to infiltrate Cuba with spies, Russia Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev, agreed to Cuba on placing nuclear missiles in Cuba to further prevent harassment of Cuba.
