Crime prevention through the theoretical framework of convergence. Crime is seen as a result of convergence of three factors: a motivated offender, a suitable target, and the absence of anyone to intervene with the criminal behavior (von Lampe, 2011). Under these conditions, the criminal offender will make a decision to commit a crime based on the situational factors they are presented with (von Lampe, 2011). If the criminal decision is influenced by changing the circumstances by the way of costs of crime increase and benefits decrease it is possible to prevent the crime from occurring (von Lampe 2011).
