This artifact is a website Ingrid created during her first quarter at UW Bothell. In CSS 233, she learned the basics of Unicode and HTML. She created this website based off of my interest. There is a page dedicated to Batman, unicorns, and basketball. She created this website using HTML coding. This artifact is significant to her because previously she never had any experience with media tech. This class helped Ingrid find a new hobby in tech, but not a career.

In this paper Ingrid discusses the difference between prevention and promotion. In this paper Ingrid argues that in order to address the real problem about crime in neighborhoods, societies view on solving the problem will have to go beyond creating laws to punish the criminals. This artifact is important to her because writing this paper helped Ingrid understand what community psychology is. Society must start help individuals not fall into the same mistakes others have fallen into.

In this paper, Ingrid identified the gender wage pay gap as a contemporary social inequality issue. This was Ingrid’s first time researching about the gender wage gap. In this paper she unfolded why the gender wage gap exist and possible solutions for the problem. This paper is significant to Ingrid because she is a woman of color, so this problem may impact her when she looks for a job after graduation.

Ingrid uses emotion and facts to persuade her audience. This artifact is important to her because it helped her build her communication skills. Before this class, public speaking scared Ingrid because she did not have the skills to effectively communicate her argument to a crowd. After rehearsing this speech Ingrid has gained the confidence to speak in public because she learned the important skills of body language and voice projection.

This poster illustrates Ingrid’s journey to access higher education as a first generation college student. She briefly shares her family history and how the community she grew up in has contributed to my journey to UW Bothell. In this artifact, Ingrid discusses systemic barriers that limited her access to education. She presented this poster for our class event, You Are Not Alone, and during UW Bothell’s townhouse meeting. This artifact helped Ingrid analyze systemic barriers in place that limit youth from low-income communities access higher education.
