Walgreen’s diversity officer has a lot to do to recover from the class-action lawsuit that was filed against the company which entails both short term and long term approaches. First and foremost, Walgreen’s must develop and accommodative strategy. Second, the officer must set common goals and establish their order and purpose for attainment. Third, for long term recovery, Walgreen’s should consider all options to make sure that people of all racial and ethnic backgrounds have the same opportunities. Fourth, Walgreen’s diversity officer must shape the company’s vision through partaking in leadership skills.…
Martha Stewert is the owner of Omnimedia which handles her show, clothing line etc. What she did was owned a large sum of stock in a biotechnology firm (ImClone) and was chums with them. She was tipped off that one of the things they researched did not pan out. The spending on the project would not yeild any sales so the expected companies profits would never be. This is a bad thing if you own the stock the way Martha Stewart did. The illegal part was that she was told that the company was not doing well before anyone else or before it became public knowledge. She sold her stock and the next day or two the company announced their problems. This caused their stock to plunge in trading but Martha sold hers right before that happened. The legal term for what she did is "insider trading" which is illegal, unethical and can land you jail time. The Securities and Exchange Commision which watches for large sales of stock right before bad news hits caught it and went after the CEO of ImClone and her. She said nobody tipped her off which is a lie so she dug herself a hole.…

Most people would agree that the objective of most businesses is to make money in an honorable manner, and to conduct business in an ethical way. Well, not all businesses operate in an honorable and ethical manner. According to Lovelenna Rajeev, author of Ethical and Unethical Business Practice, “Business ethics are moral values and principles, that determine our conduct in the business world. It refers to the commercial activities, either with other business houses or with a single customer”(Rajeev2009). While the objective of all businesses is to make profits, the business should contribute to the interest of the society by ensuring fair business practices. However, greed has led businesses to unethical business practices and general mistrust. Some examples of unfair business practice include; bribery and dishonesty, unfair treatment of employees, sexual discrimination.…

Xerox, the then world’s largest copier seller, was sued by the U.S. Security and Exchange Committee (SEC) in 2002 for its fraudulent accounting manipulations, which inflated $1.5 billion earnings from 1997 to 2000. Several parties got their hands dirty in the scandal, including the then senior Xerox management, the Board of Directors and external auditor KPMG LLP. The failure of those parties in discharging their duties induces the further thought of trust and accountability among them and shareholders. Furthermore, the external environment in 1990s, including economic bubble boom, irrational investors, fierce industrial competition and ineffective regulations on audit, provided a hotbed for the scandal. Lessons learnt from Xerox scandal indicate the necessity for changes in corporate governance system, regulations on accounting professions and analysts as well as regulators.…
Something that disturbs me about being a pharmacist in retail pharmacy is knowing that I am responsible for what everyone under me does. Something as little as a technician making a dispensing mistake (bottling the wrong drug) can cause me to get fired or even lose my license. I am also bothered about the long hours that pharmacists have to work. About 90% of the job is done on foot and this seems pretty tiresome. I still have questions as to why this is so. What is it about this career that people barely sit down? Another disturbing factor I came across is having to work with sick patients. These types of people are usually the worst to work with because they are not in a very friendly mood. I wonder what is it that motivates pharmacists to do this because I would probably be afraid of catching their ailing germs. I would also like to know how pharmacists manage to put up with several different attitudes in any given day and still finish their job with a smile on their face.…
