Unit 1.1
Explain why effective communication is important in developing positive relationships with children, young people and adults.
One of the most important roles in the in the development of children, young people and adults, is the effectiveness of good communication and having a positive relationship. Within an educational environment, an adult has to show a positive, approachable and an effective communication skill amongst others, which is achieved by responding to others in a positive manor, making children, young people and adults feel that you’re approachable and to feel relaxed in your presence while you are engaging in a conversation.

Unit 1.2
Explain the principles of relationship building with children, young people and adults.
Relationship building is essential in all ages and through all walks of life. A mutual respect for one another is key, and to gain that mutual respect takes time. Patience and understanding when communicating with anybody, is vital for them to become comfortable and accepts you as a positive rather than as a negative. By engaging with a minor with a kind friendly warm smile, slowing getting down to their eye level, with respecting their person space and asking them an open question, for example, “How are you?”, then taking the time to let them respond, whilst giving your full attention, so they feel like their voice is being heard it’s important to they feel they have priority of your time for that moment.
All good relationships are built on good effective communication. The use of easy sentences and asking them about the positives surrounding them whilst using good eye contact will make them feel important and relaxed in your presence.

    The difference between the sequence and rate of development is the sequence means that there is a definite pattern to a child developing e.g. a toddler being able to walk before they can run. The sequence is the speed at which development happens. When the child is born it will go through different stages of development and at different rates.
