Cesar E. Chavez

An American Hero, Cesar Chavez was a wonderful man who dedicated his life to helping other people.
Cesar's parents taught him as he was growing up about working hard, how his education was important , and that respecting others was a big importance to them, so they were very strict with César and his brothers and sisters taught them to show respect for others
Cesar's parents thought his education was very important for his future but, school was difficult for him because, he only spoke Spanish and the teachers band instructors only spoke English. Cesar thought he was being punished for speaking Spanish , but he finally learned how to read English at school, but his uncles tough him at home how to read in Spanish. Cesar's parents taught him to help others when they needed it , he always helped his uncles, aunts, and cousins by giving them food when they didn't have much to eat.
Cesar's grandmother, Mama Tella, taught him and his brothers and sisters about their religious beliefs towards god, which were very strong! Growing up, Cesar remembered and, practiced his religious beliefs and, to Cesar , his religion was a most beautiful thing.
At age ten Cesar's family's home was taken away from them, due to the fact that they had very little money to pay for their house payments/bills. César and his family moved to California to find jobs, they started working at farms picking fruit and vegetables. César's family would go to many different farms looking for any side jobs available, as would other families that lost their homes.
César's family moved a lot. It didn't really bother him that much because they loved their parents to much to complain and, they were happy that they got to be together as a family.
Working on the farms was very difficult for the farm workers , especially for the Chavez family, due to the extremely long hours, they had very few bathrooms and, very little bit of drinkable water. The farm workers suffered quite a lot because they were not treated with respect or integrity or didn't have their dignity.
Even though César's family worked very hard out in the farms, they didn't make that much money. The whole family had to work, even the children. Often the farm workers would cheat and steal money from the farm workers, including the Chavez family, the men whom stole money from other farm worker would run away so they wouldn't get caught.
César's family never thought of themselves as being poor, although they had very little money and usually didn't have enough food to eat. César's mother would always tell César and his brother Richard to find a homeless and hungry man so she could cook a meal for them.
When Cesar was a teen , he and his sister Rita would help other farm workers or neighbors by driving them to the hospital to see a doctor. Without Cesar or Rita driving them to the doctors, a lot of these people would have a difficult time to go see a doctor. They tried to pay Cesar for gas and helping them out but, Cesar never would accept their money because his mother would get mad at him, she always said, " you have to help the needy, and God will help you."
A couple of years later , Cesar joined the US Navy. Cesar served in the military among many of other men and women to fight for freedom and protect the United States
Two years past while César was in the Navy and he returned home and married his girlfriend, Helen. After a short period of time, they moved to San Jose, California and started their new life and began their own family.
When Cesar met a man named Fred Ross, that moment his life changed. Ross believed in people who worked together to make their communities better. Ross hired Chavez to work for him in the CSO ( community center organization ) The CSO worked to help people. Cesar worked at trying to help people solve their problems. Many Community Leaders didn't respect all of the people so there for , not everybody's problems were solved.
The CSO, Chavez, and, Ross helped teach the members of the community to vote. They also tried to show the community that the community leaders respected the voters. The community leaders worked very hard to try and solve the problems of the voters. Cesar worked in a lot of community in California trying to help get respect that they deserved!
Chavez started the National Farm Worker Association ( NFWA ) to help make the working conditions better for the farm workers, All races, blacks, whites. Filipinos, Americans, Mexicans, men and women all decided to join and help Cesar.
Chavez and the farm workers tried to get the companies and growers that owned the farms, to respect them by giving them enough fresh drinking water, bathrooms in the fields and a good / fair pay for a day's work. The companies and growers refused to give the farm workers respect or dignity. The growers did as much as they possibly could to stop Cesar and the farm workers. They even used violence and injured or hurt a lot of the farm workers and the people who helped the farm workers. Cesar was very upset.
Chavez didn't like nor believe in violence. Cesar wanted to bring change in the most nonviolent way possible. A lot of people came to help Cesar and supported César because he didn't believe in violence, Just like farm workers Chavez believed that the farm workers deserved better treatment, respect, dignity their justice and fairness.
Cesar worked very hard and suffered a lot to help make the farm workers life's better. Five years later , some of the growers and famers decided to agree with César to provide fresh water to drink, bathrooms, and a better salary. César and the farm workers , and their friends achieved their goal to get the respect they deserve, and making the farm workers lives better.
Cesar dedicated the rest of his working life to help making the world a better place, he always tried to work on making the world a better and more respectful place and help trying to give people their dignity and justice back. He also tried to get equal treatment for the poor , the farm workers and to people everywhere.
Unfortunately, Chavez Passes Away April 23, 1993. He Was 66 years of age. People all over the world will remember Cesar E. Chavez as a Strong, Courageous, Thoughtful, Caring, Loving, Giving man who, fought and dedicated his life to improve ours.
