II. Caitlyn's Early Life
Caitlyn Jenner, born on October 28, 1949 as William Bruce Jenner, in the small town, Mount Kisco of New York, has a very athletic childhood. in several sports which include: track, basketball and football. It is pretty clear in this time of his life his main focus is sports. Jenner gets a football scholarship from Graceland college that he accepts. After some injuries from football the athlete switches to track. When his coach suggests that he train for the Olympics is the first time Jenner's life changes forever. It is said that Jenner has an "impressive run" (A&E, 1) in result of placing top ten in both the Olympic trials and Olympic Games of 1972. Furthermore, In 1976, Jenner wins a gold medal as well as sets a new world record. It is proclaimed that "after his win, a bystander [hands] him an American flag, which he enthusiastically [grabs] for a victory lap—a gesture that has been repeated in Olympic games ever since (A&E, 1)." This shows that Jenner is proud to have won something for his country and by him grabbing the flag and doing a victory lap inspires others to do it as well.
III. Leading Up To Caitlyn's Transition
After the Olympics, Jenner is still very much in the light. He gets a cover on the Wheaties cereal box and is "one of the only spokesmen for Wheaties" (A&E, 1). The world gets to experience the beauty of his speeches and get a glimpse of his life on the reality television show "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" with his ex-wife, Kris Jenner and their children: Kourtney Kardashian, Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Rob Kardashian, Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner. Jenner has four other children from his marriages before Kris; who appear in a couple of episodes of Keeping Up With The Kardashians also. Jenner continues to show up in the show even after he and Kris has gotten a divorce in 2013. Kris mentions on the show that during their marriage she has had a few suspicions about Jenner's cross dressing and behavior but she does not think it is something as big as him wanting to be a woman. Caitlyn took hormones during their marriage, which Kris knew about, but she did not tell her (Kris) why.
IV. Caitlyn's transition
The world starts getting suspicious about Jenner in February of 2015, lots of magazines are printed about Jenner's different appearance.
Scott disick (Kourtney Kardashian's boyfriend) whom is relatively close to Caitlyn explains that when Caitlyn was Bruce he was very quiet and kept to himself a lot. Additionally, In April, 2015 Diane Sawyer interviews Jenner about all of the rumors and speculations. She reveals that she has been taking hormones and how she is dealing with the emotional wrath of everything that is going on. Jenner very recently tweeted, "I'm so happy after such a long struggle to be living my true self. Welcome to the world Caitlyn. Can't wait for you to get to know her/me." People, today, use the Internet so much. Jenner creates a Twitter account and gains 2 million followers in just two days! Jenner has been getting a lot of love and support from his family, friends, fans and people all over the world.
V. What We Learn
We learn that Caitlyn Jenner is an icon and will be remembered forever. She is a great representative for not only the transgender people but for America as a whole. Caitlyn Jenner is a woman who has the strength of doing what she feels happy doing even though she has millions of eyes watching her and judging.
