Rome itself became a center for artists and scholars. Because it had no major industries or trade, it relied on religious pilgrims and church business for its income. But Rome began to see a rebirth under Pope Nicholas V, who promoted learning and the arts as well as the influence of Greek and Roman culture. Nicholas supported the rediscovery of these ancient cultures through writings and art, and the repair of the crumbling relics of ancient Rome. Rome would be the artistic centerpiece of the city-states.…

    1. Continental drift and the formation of the Earth’s Oceans are formed from plate tectonics. Plate tectonics occurred on Earth millions of years ago when Earth was known just to have one giant supercontinent known as Pangea. Pangea was made up of all our seven continents today and had one ginormous ocean called Panthalassa that surrounded the supercontinent. After millions of years plate tectonics did its job and split apart the supercontinent to what we have today with our seven continents. Therefore the relationship between the continental drift and the formation of the Earth’s oceans is plate tectonics.…

While the Industrial Revolution had both positive and negative effects on society and the economy, the positive effects outweighed the negative. The revolution had strengthened the British economy due to rapid developments in the textile industry and steam power, it also caused cities to grow tremendously. Yet because of the quick rapid growth, living conditions and public health were less than adequate. It is clear that living in the industrial revolution time as a lower class citizen would have been close to hell, but in the end when weighing the pros and cons of the revolution, one could understand the long term effect was a positive one.…

I grew up in the "Land of Lincoln" in a rural town near Springfield, Illinois. It had always been common knowledge that it was on January 1, 1863 that Abraham Lincoln freed all slaves with his Emancipation Proclamation. Though, it had never occurred to me that this was not the case in Texas. It was not until June 19, 1865 when the Union General Gordon Granger arrived at Galveston, Texas with the good news. His first order of business in Galveston was to read the General Order Number 3 to the people of Texas freeing the last 250, 000 slaves, which read as follows:…

The purpose of the Financial Literacy Promotion Project is to provide an opportunity for the chapter members to demonstrate the knowledge and skills needed in planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating a campaign to educate chapter members and the general public or an organized group about the importance of financial literacy. To be financially literate, one must be able to confidently read, analyze, and manage their personal finances to lead more secure and satisfying lives. The most basic areas include banking (managing checking and savings accounts), budgeting, and setting and implementing financial goals (short term to retirement). To set and obtain financial goals, one must have a working knowledge of investment instruments, borrowing, and insurance. Further, financial literacy includes an understanding of employment benefits, taxes, and other payroll deduction options. Maintaining good credit can save an individual a significant sum of money in interest savings, insurance premiums, and may even affect one’s ability to secure employment. The Financial Literacy Promotion Project is a chapter project that develops the economic and marketing knowledge and skills necessary to be successful in a global economy. After learning the economic principles associated with financial literacy, chapter members will utilize their marketing knowledge and skills to communicate the benefits of financial literacy to others. The project may begin at any time after the close of the previous chartered association conference and run to the beginning of the next chartered association conference. The Financial Literacy Promotion Project provides an opportunity for chapter members to • demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of financial literacy • engage in activity(ies) that clarify and enhance understanding of financial literacy • plan and implement a presentation or activity(ies) to educate and promote…
