California Break Essay
California Over October break in 2015 I went to California for my second time. I love going out of state. My family and I went in car, so it took us longer to get to California. It takes about 6, 7, or 8 hours in car depending on how many stops you take along the way. Now the first time I went to California was in car as well, but that time my older sister came with her husband and my newborn niece at the time. That time seemed like it took forever. During October break, my dad decided to take my mom, brother, and me back to California for break. The last time we went was in 2011. My dad lives in California as well as my uncle. in 2015 than when we went in 2011. We did a lot of fun stuff this time, I mean I’m not saying that last time wasn’t fun but this time is was awesome. When we arrived, we were in a city named Dana Point, it was really beautiful up there. We were super close to this other city named Newport Beach, so we were like in the middle of both. We were surrounded by beaches there, it literally took less than 5 minutes to get to the beaches. First thing we did, which I think everyone does is, we got settled in our inn. It was called Dana Point Marina Inn. It was a really nice place. In our suite there was this great view of the pier. They had breakfast there was well for every morning. My favorite thing about the inn was definitely the amazing view of the pier. Just waking up to that every morning was amazing. Well we were all super exhausted, but we still had to go visit my uncle. We spent some time there then headed back to the inn. We all practically took a nap and by then you could say it was around 7:30. Since the time schedule in California is an hour later than in Arizona it would have been around 8:30 here in Arizona. We didn’t have a lot to do by that time but we went to go visit this crazy awesome beach at night. It was beautiful. We were all pretty hungry by then so we went to this shack type of place, where they had fresh burgers, fries, salads, etc. It was my first time trying zucchini fries, they were so good. Well, after that it practically looked liked the first day was gone. The next morning we notice that there were beach cruisers (bikes) to rent at the inn. So, my mom, brother, and me decided to go out on the beach cruisers and go sight seeing in the morning. It was so much fun, we went to another beach and took a lot of great pictures there. We returned to the inn and ate breakfast there. After breakfast we all decided to go Los Angeles. I love going to Los Angeles. Since highways there in California are constantly filled with cars at all time, it seemed like it took forever to just to get there. Los Angeles was only took like an hour or two to get there, from where we were at. When we got there we went shopping. I got a California snapback, and 2 shirts. Well after that we went to go see the Griffith Observatory which is literally a mountain next to the Hollywood sign. It was my first time seeing the Hollywood sign and the Griffith Observatory. I noticed that a lot of movies were filmed there. When we were leaving we all noticed that we drove right under a scene that was filmed from Back the Future Part 2. It was so cool. It was time to leave Los Angeles and go back to Dana Point. It was still daytime so we went back the hotel and put on bathing suits and it was time to head to the beach.
The first beach we went to was so cool, it was the coolest beach I have ever seen. There was a lot of surfers there, they were all super good at surfing. We stayed and watched them surf for a while but what we weren’t noticing was the waves. My brother and I were on the sand and since we were looking at the surfers this huge wave comes and gets us entirely wet, which technically we got wet without haven’t even gotten in the water. We went to another beach after that and I was called Baby Beach. We got there and I practically noticed why it was called Baby Beach, there was literally little kids everywhere and the water was not even deep. We still got in but it wasn’t so fun, well obviously the water went deeper but there was a rope that was to say that “the water drops when you pass this.” We had a barbecue later on that night, with the entire family and it was yummy. There is nothing better than home cooked family meals. We were all tired so we went back the hotel and it was time to lay our heads on the pillows. The next day we practically spent the entire day sightseeing again and later that night it was time to head off back to Arizona. It sucked that we had to leave but it had to happen that way. The trip back seemed like it took longer than coming to
California. The highways were packed with cars.We got home and it was liked I was missing being in California. Keeping a memory in mind is better than keeping it in a picture in my opinion. One thing I do know is that I got a great experience that I’ll never forgotten.
