I think that all servicemen and women should be able to keep their dog that had been with them. In my opinion they have been with them the whole time while deployed whether it is a couple weeks or 6 months. When a serviceman or woman gets injured that is the last thing they need to worry about is if the dog that was by their side while getting hurt is ok and has a great new owner! So therefore is a good reason why they should be kept. These people have already spent months with these dogs training them and taking great care of them but after they have gotten hurt the dog is taken away. According to passage “Call of Duty” people say that nothing really ever felt right without their dog.
How would you feel if your dog that
you had been with through wars, training the one that was there when no one else was taken away? That like losing a best friend! Sources say that the dogs will recognize a former handler. That means that they have spent that much time together that even after about 6month of not seeing each other and still remember them. Some soldiers state that it was basically like they were made for each other.
Some people may think that they should not get to keep their dogs. I understand one reason. That’s because they are very expensive. But that dog had been with them for months they understand it all! Most men/women and their dogs are close like with an unbreakable bond. People will never understand until they have to go through it.
Another reason I think that they should get to keep them is that they need a break too. Spending over a month in 120 degree weather with very little water they defiantly deserve a break. They also understand they person better than some of their family. Those dogs are the only ones beside the person they belong to that knows exactly what happen to them.
That is my reasoning on why I think they should be able to keep them. I hope that this might have changed your mind. That dog is that persons companion. There by their side through everything……
