In, Call of the Wild the protagonist is Buck, a half Shepherd half St. Bernard mix breed. Buck is a southland dog from the sun-kissed Santa Clara Valley. He was Judge Miller’s pet, but the gardener Manuel stole and sold him. The main antagonist Spitzbergen which was later shortened to just Spitz in the story is a white mutt off of a whaling ship. Spitz is very treacherous and even “laughs” at death.

The only thing that could have been better would have been if there was more story at the end of the book. In some parts of the story it got boring like during the part when the scottish half-breed owned Buck. It was also kind of boring in the beginning. “The tongues of all were out and lolling, the white fangs showing cruelly white in the moonlight.” stated London in Call of the Wild. I like this quote from Call of the Wild because it shows good will always prosper over evil.
In conclusion, Call of the Wild was about Buck, the half St. Bernard half Shepherd mix, who is sold many times throughout the story. He fought Spitz for leadership multiple times overall leading to Spitz’s great demise. Often times Buck was mistreated and beaten by his many owners throughout the story. Buck was a mighty strong and very smart dog. Call of the Wild is a very fun book to
