Calypso Analysis
It had been days now. Calypso was still on the chase, guided by the mysterious and magnetic pull. Alone, he was continuing off of his previous encounter in the forest. Calypso never had really ever come across a group of ‘Nabis, much less stayed with the ones he met. Short and sweet greetings were more of what he liked to do.
Nonetheless, this wasn’t going to be an easy task. He had been traveling for what seemed like ages and still didn’t come across any landmark that seemed even remotely related to what could be causing any of this. Although traveling is one of Calypso’s most favorite pastimes, no one ‘Nabi can run forever without some breaks.
Following the crescendo prior, Calypso had rested in the forest after trekking through a majority

Despite all the breaks he took, Calypso’s paws were starting to ache, and he tired easier. New biomes typically did this to Calypso, and he always has to adjust accordingly. Awakened, he finds himself in the middle of a valley, still in the biome. Calypso felt he was getting close. The tugging pressure was getting more apparent, the soil beneath his paws were getting more sandier/rockier, and temperatures were getting to be more and more humid, suggesting that the environment may be changing again. In which, Calypso assumed it would be a desert-scape type of …show more content…
Calypso was now right at the base of the mountain, but he was tired beyond belief. He had seen the other group arrive long before him, and he had hoped to find them here. It had been half the day, and he had no water or food ever since the grassy hills. Not to mention that sand was a terrain that annoyed Calypso, but it was bearable. Particles were stuck in his fur between his legs and feet. He ascended the mountain, hoping to find an answer.
A purpose.
The reasoning behind everything that had happened.
In general, Calypso was really just very curious. Though, when he reached an opening that caved downward into the middle (a landing, of sorts), he couldn’t believe his eyes.
‘Nononononononono, this isn’t possible… I didn’t even see it that far back!’ Calypso thinks to himself.

There is a massive brewing storm above the mountain.

Calypso noticed the group down below, which he was in the process of meeting before he noticed it. All that clouded his thoughts now were feelings of consternation, tension, and fear. Calypso scurried towards a large boulder nearby, and hunched behind it as close as physically possible. He grabbed his ears and pulled them over his face, his body quivering.
“Please, oh please, go away, & come back another day-” Calypso whispers to

Calypso is a lustrous goddess and like Circe, she is in love with Odysseus. Great Odysseus once again becomes the lover of this goddess as well. Hermes is sent to Calypso and demands her to let Odysseus leave this island. However, Calypso gets mad at Hermes, because Hermes tells her she can’t lie with a mortal like Odysseus, but the mortals can. Odysseus spends seven years with Calypso on her island. In Book 5, when Odysseus tells Calypso he is leaving soon, one can see that Calypso and Odysseus were lovers, (5. 248-251), “ Even as he spoke the sun set and the darkness swept the earth. And now, withdrawing into cavern’s deep recesses, long in each other’s arms they lost themselves in love. “ Great Odysseus, again is the person to blame for this moment. Sleeping with another goddess extends the journey once…

The second reason that Calypso caused problems was the fact that she offered eternal life to Odysseus. “Yet had you any inkling of the full measure if misery you are bound to endure before you reach your native land, you would stay and share this home with me, and take on immortality.” (Page 68) This ironically, she is just offering him a form of death as he would be isolated from the rest of the world. It would also prevent him continuing on his journey.…

Calypso fell in love with Odysseus and wants to marry him. She was possessed by her ‘love’ for Odysseus. Although Odysseus did not love her back she would not give up on keeping him there. Ogygia is Calypso’s island that she rules over. She uses her irresistible body to keep him there. Since she is a Goddess, she has the power to make him immortal. Odysseus refuses her offer because if he took the offer to become immortal, he would have to stay on the island with Calypso for the rest of his life. Calypso kept him in the back caves trying to get him to forget his life and stay with her. It was starting to work until Athena showed up and talked sense into Odysseus.…

It has been roughly five hundred and forty seven days since I have stepped foot of the Catalina Sea Boat. I ran my hand down the Metal railing as I strided onto the island, I would call my home for the next three weeks. I stood at the end of the dock with one bag around my shoulder and another in hand. I felt the warmth of the sun and the ocean breeze that I dearly long for now. I stopped for a moment to soak in the nature around me and breath in the ocean smell. I continued on and walked with the rest of my group onto the dirt. Which soon turned into irregular and scratchy grass as we walked to our cabins.…

Within desert biomes, biotic life adapts characteristics, which are advantageous to extreme temperature and precipitation conditions of their ecosystem. Indigenous vegetation and organisms have adapted many survival techniques through natural selection. One example of this can be found in the brittlebush, a common desert plant, which possesses leaves covered with a thick mat of short hairs which helps insulate during extreme weather, trap moisture from the air, and reduce water loss. Other organisms, such as the desert tortoise, have inherited habits to escape the heat of the summer and the cold of winter by digging burrows in the ground (Burge & Royo, 2001). Spring is a peak time for desert activity in which most animals are restlessly foraging for herbs, new growths are beginning again for grass and cacti, and annual flowers bloom. Due to the lack of surface water in desert areas, most animals obtain their water intake from moisture containing plants (Burge & Royo, 2001).…
