1. In the prison they only used the name of God and hid under the pretense of the Bible, making them look Holy and helpful to the media and to the prisoners when in reality they are all just frauds. Yes he did a lot. Maybe in a way after knowing how corrupt the system was he established a slow but sure relationship with everyone, but to his group of friends and others, he was a real person. Helped simply by offering his help to the main guard who was talking about money, it might be a way to be closer to the guard, but in return he asked for beer for his soon-to-be-friends not something else for himself. // He helped with the improvement of the library, he had initiative to writing letters to the government for help.
